Arkansas Prepare To Weather The Storm Versus Manziel, Aggies This Saturday

Posted by Blake Frazier on 9/25/2013 8:03:28 PM

The 10th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies have been absolutely dominant on the road dating back to last season when they went a perfect 7-0 away from College Station. The Arkansas Razorbacks are undefeated at home, and haven’t forgotten what Johnny Manziel and the Aggies did to them at Razorback Stadium last season. Manziel registered 557 total yards of offense and had four touchdowns in a 58-10 win, blowing Arkansas away in the first meeting between those teams as SEC rivals. The Razorbacks will be out to avenge that online sports betting loss this weekend and should be much better prepared, with a chance thunderstorms could provide even more lighting this Saturday.

Arkansas is coming off its first loss of the season following last week’s collapse at Rutgers, as they gave up two fourth-quarter touchdowns in a 28-24 loss. The offense stalled and the defense couldn’t hold up in that defeat, and now the Razorbacks have to turn things around in a hurry to be ready for this Texas A&M team.

The Aggies came up just short against Alabama in this year’s SEC showdown, but still have the potential to make some major noise in the BCS if they can go undefeated the rest of the way. Texas A&M is the one team that has shown it can keep up with the Tide over the last two seasons, and Manziel is the biggest name in college football right now. As long as Manziel is running the offense this team will be hard to slow down, and the defense took a step forward in last week’s win over SMU, and defensive coordinator Mark Snyder thinks the move of cornerback Deshazor Everett to safety will continue to be a major improvement on the back end of a defense that had struggled at the back end.

The Razorbacks encountered little resistance on the way to building up a 17-point lead at Rutgers, but it disappeared just as quickly as they let off the gas and gave them a chance to get back in the game. The potential return of sophomore quarterback Brandon Allen will help after he missed last week’s game with a shoulder injury, but the real test will be on the defensive side of the ball after last week’s collapse. The Arkansas defense struggled against a much weaker passing game during that loss, and will have its hands full trying to contain Manziel and the Aggies’ offense. Ball control will be key, as the Razorbacks must try and find ways to keep the ball out of Manziel’s hands.

College Football Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick

Arkansas was in position to win last week’s online betting contest before the late collapse cost them, and as good as they played in the first half of that game it won’t be easy to bounce back against Texas A&M. The Aggies have already established themselves as one of the better teams in the country after nearly knocking off the Tide a second time and staying undefeated outside of their date with Alabama, so don’t expect them to left off the gas at any time in another important SEC road date.

College Football Betting Pick: Texas A&M Aggies – 13.5
