Missouri Looks To Book Ticket To SEC Title Game Versus Manziel, Aggies

Posted by Blake Frazier on 2/4/2014 5:44:03 AM

Rivalry week in the SEC will have some added fuel to the fire this year with major ramifications on the conference title picture. It’s somewhat ironic that one of the biggest games will feature two of the SEC’s newest teams. The No. 5 Missouri Tigers will look to clinch their spot in the SEC Championship game with a win over the No. 21 Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday, as these former Big 12 rivals add another chapter to their divide in new territory. Missouri is one game up on South Carolina for top spot in the SEC East, and an online sports betting win this week will mean a chance to compete with the winner of the Alabama/Auburn game for an SEC title.

#21 Texas A&M Aggies @ #5 Missouri Tigers
Saturday November 30, 2013 – 7:00 PM ET
Faurot Field, Columbia, Missouri
College Football Sports Betting Line: Missouri – 4.5

The Aggies won’t have a chance to compete in the SEC title game but that won’t change their attitude heading in to this game, especially as Johnny Manziel looks to add to his already impressive resume. Last year’s Heisman trophy winner has a chance to steal the spotlight in this game and upset one of A&M’s biggest rivals, and Manziel already has a reputation for playing his best on the biggest stage.

College Football Betting Pick: Texas A&M

Texas A&M hadn’t lost three games since 2009, but after dropping three games this season they have been relegated to the role of spoiler. Manziel certainly has a lot to play for as the SEC leader in passing yards and touchdowns, and he is the only quarterback in the conference to average over 300 passing yards a game. For as impressive as the Aggies’ offense has looked at times this year, their defense has looked equally terrible with an average of 47 points per game allowed against ranked opponents. This will be one final shot at earning a measure of redemption, but they will be in tough on the road for the second-straight week against a very good offense.

College Football Betting Pick: Missouri

The Missouri rushing attack has averaged 238 yards per game on the ground to rank 18th in the nation in rushing yards thanks in big part to the play of running backs Henry Josey and Russell Hansbrough. Senior quarterback James Franklin also looked good in his return last week, and has to be excited about the prospect of going up against this A&M defense with a chance to go to the SEC Championship game on the line. The Tigers’ defense has held opponents to an average of 10 points over their last three games, and will face its toughest test since a 27-24 double-overtime loss to South Carolina when it goes up against Manziel and the Aggies.

College Football Betting Pick: Outlook & Pick

It didn’t take long for Missouri to establish itself as a legitimate power in the SEC, and with the chance to book a spot in the conference title game there will be no shortage of motivation for the Tigers at home this week. Manziel has done it all for the A&M offense over these past couple of years, but the defense has been a major letdown and that could be the case again this week. Even if Missouri gives up 40 points, they should have a good shot to win the game as they move the ball both through the air and on the ground.

College Football Betting Pick: Missouri Tigers – 4.5
