College Football Betting: Week 13 Preview

Posted by The Wiesguy on 11/23/2015 8:05:39 PM

Thanksgiving week is here and with it we get a chance to divide our college football fandom over a couple of intense days. The games below are pulled exclusively from the Friday card. There are some surprisingly meaningful contests that few could have anticipated at the start of the season. Not bad for a turkey hangover.

Friday November 27

#15 Navy Midshipmen vs. #21 Houston Cougars

12:00PM

Houston -1

This game will decide the winner of the West Division in the AAC. It could have been more meaningful than that but the Cougars laid an egg last week, losing to Houston, ending their run at a perfect season. After that kind of loss I would think Navy would be the worst team in the world to face because they are so disciplined in what they do. I am sure the Cougars are going to be gearing up to stop that triple option attack but it is not easy to do and I wonder how they will hold up mentally, when/if that they can’t. They are at home though and even though this game is not as big it is still bigger than either program could have hope for initially. Tough one to call. Sentimentally I am rooting with for Navy so I will make a small play there.

#3 Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers

3:30PM

Iowa -2.5

This is the last test to complete a most unexpected season for Iowa. They have already wrapped up the division but they have a very real chance of making it to the playoffs if they can stay perfect. In their way is a disappointing Nebraska team that now has to deal with the fact that there may be legal troubles for their QB. Either way they need this game to become bowl eligible. This team has been so close so many times they should have a better record but you also have wonder just how much more they have in the tank. The first quarter may decide what kind of game we get. Take Iowa...it’s a great value.

#7 Baylor Bears vs. #16 TCU Horned Frogs

7:30PM

Baylor -1.5

The Bears likely got back into playoff consideration with their win over previously undefeated Oklahoma State last weekend...and they did it with third string quarterback Chris Johnson closing it out. Jarrett Stidham is questionable for this one but you have to wonder if whether they can still win with #3 might impress the voters even more. TCU lost at Oklahoma by a point, ending their limited chances of participating in the playoffs. They were without their star QB Trevone Boykin who is questionable this week as well. Without him it is hard to see the Frogs keeping up with the Bears. If Boykin is healthy than you can take a shot with TCU.

#20 Washington State Cougars vs. Washington Huskies

3:30PM

No line yet posted.

I know this one does not have playoff implications but what about the Apple Cup? Washington State has been way better than expected this season and want to finish the season strong. Beating the rival Huskies on the road and keeping them from becoming bowl eligible would be a nice feather in little brothers cap. They can do it thanks to the top passing offense in the nation. The Huskies are sharp on defense though and won’t just give it to them.
