College Football Betting: Weekly College Football Preview

Posted by The Wiesguy on 9/14/2015 11:45:03 PM

The SEC is taking up way too many spots in the rankings if you ask me. This week there are a couple of games in the SEC West pitting teams ranked in the Top 25 against each other. A loss probably won’t push a team out of the rankings altogether but it will reveal who are the real contenders for the league crown and a spot in the playoffs.

Thursday September 17

#11 Clemson Tigers vs. Louisville Cardinals

Clemson -5

I liked the Cardinals as a sleeper this season but they are 0-2 and in danger of seeing their season blow up before the end of the first month. This is a game I think they can win if they play their game. But I am losing my confidence in them. Take the Tigers or take a pass.

Friday September 18

#9 Florida State Seminoles vs. Boston College Eagles

FSU -8

Both teams are coming into this one at 2-0 but I wonder if the Eagles are getting a little too much respect. They are a physically tough team but they don’t really have the talent to compete with the Seminoles. Take Florida State.

Saturday September 19

Air Force Falcons vs. #4 Michigan State Spartans

Michigan State -26.5

The Spartans are coming off a huge win over Oregon last week and people are now writing them into the playoffs like it is a given. I think this is a huge letdown spot for MSU and Air Force's option attack will give them trouble. Take the Falcons.

Connecticut Huskies vs. #22 Missouri Tigers

Missouri -22.5

The Huskies are a surprising 2-0 coming into this one. Mizzou is 2-0 as well but they haven’t beat anyone significant as they gear up for SEC play. They might be caught looking ahead to their first league game next week at Kentucky but I don’t see the Huskies having enough to trip them up. Take Missouri.

Northern Illinois Huskies vs. #1 Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State -32.5

The Huskies usually play a B10 team but this year they have bitten off more than they can chew with the defending champs. They might be able to play with them a while but this OSU team is just too talented, especially on defense. I don’t like the number though. Take the Huskies who will lose by 28 and cover.

#14 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. #8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Georgia Tech -1.5

Probably the best game of the day outside the SEC. Notre Dame is looking to prove that they are still a threat after losing their quarterback last week but this one is all on the defense and how they defend the GT option. I don’t think they are up for it that is why they are small dogs at home. Take Georgia Tech.

#18 Auburn Tigers vs. #13 LSU Tigers

LSU -7

Auburn escaped last week and now they are bringing their turnover prone QB into Death Valley to take on one of the most athletic defenses in America. That sounds like a recipe for disaster even if the other Tigers are far from set at QB either. Take LSU.

South Carolina Gamecocks vs. #7 Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia -17

The Bulldogs should run all over South Carolina, literally. The Gamecocks might be desperate after losing to Kentucky as a second league loss kills their season before the end of September. That desperation is not enough to bridge the gap though. Take Georgia.

Stanford Cardinal vs. #8 USC Trojans

USC -9.5

The Trojans are coming off another whooping but it will be a lot harder this week against Stanford. The Cardinal can show a lot by being able to slow down the Trojan attack, win or lose. This one will be physical and fun but take the Trojans.

#15 Ole Miss Rebels vs. #2 Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama -6.5

If you like defense this is the game for you as two of the best defensive teams in the nation square off. The Rebels "D" is good enough to walk into Tuscaloosa and hand the Tide a loss making them a very compelling underdog. Both teams have quarterbacks making their first truly big game starts. I am going to roll the dice with Ole Miss.
