College Football Betting: Week 4 Preview

Posted by The Wiesguy on 9/21/2015 9:34:33 PM

Last week a couple of Top Ten teams fell and top ranked Ohio State nearly bit the dust too. This week there is bound to be much less drama but as the Big 12 starts their conference season we are getting more of matchups worth watching.

Friday September 25

#21 Stanford Cardinal vs. Oregon State Beavers

10:00PM

Stanford -16.5

The Cardinal looked like the team many thought they would be last week, beating USC at the Coliseum. After physically pounding on the Trojans look for them to do the same at Oregon State. Stanford might be the best team in the PAC12 North. Take Stanford.

Saturday September 26

#18 Utah Utes vs. #13 Oregon Ducks

No line currently listed

The Utes are better than you think but I am not sure they are ready to bag the Ducks on the road - they have not beaten Oregon since becoming a member of the PAC12. Oregon was good but not great last week in dispatching Georgia State but a home league game at night should light their fire. Take Oregon even though they will be without their transfer QB.

#22 BYU Cougars vs. Michigan Wolverines

12:00PM

Michigan -4

The Cougars are looking to continue their exciting season. They come to the Big House looking to show once again that the Wolverines are still a long way from being elite. Their backup quarterback has been one of the best stories of the season and is enough to keep them close and maybe get the upset. Take BYU.

#8 LSU Tigers vs. Syracuse Orange

12:00PM

LSU -24

LSU made a big statement with a home win over Auburn last week. That is two in a row against ranked SEC opponents. They now enter the light part of their schedule. Since they don’t have a consistent QB backing them as a big favourite is uncomfortable. Pass

Western Michigan Broncos vs. #1 Ohio State Buckeyes

3:30PM

Ohio State -27

The Buckeyes escaped against Northern Illinois last week so they might not be so keen to see another MAC team coming to Columbus. WMU is not as much of a threat because they are not nearly as physical. The Broncos will not be able to finesse their way out of this one. Take Ohio State.

#24 Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Texas Longhorns

3:30PM

Oklahoma State -5

The Cowboys were a B12 sleeper at the beginning of the season and have a chance to confirm that position with a win in their first league game on the road. They get a ripe Texas teams that is in total turmoil and doesn’t have a quarterback. Take Oklahoma State.

Massachusetts Minutemen vs. #6 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

3:30PM

Notre Dame -28.5

I am not at all sold on that number next to their name but the Irish are still undefeated and will still be after this week. Massachusetts may be more competitive in the MAC this season but they are not going to take down Touchdown Jesus. Still take the Minutemen plus the points.

#3 TCU Horned Frogs vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders

4:45PM

TCU -9.5

TCU still hasn’t looked like the team we thought they would when the season started. Last week they gave up way too many points to SMU but perhaps they will get a jolt when they start conference play this week. There should be a lot of balls in the air in this one.

#14 Texas A&M Aggies vs. Arkansas Razorbacks

7:00PM

Texas A&M -4.5

The Razorbacks have lost two straight but they get a chance to reset as they start SEC play. They were considered a threat in the SEC West this season but have yet to show the form they did in the second half last year. I am expecting their best game of the season to date. Take Arkansas.

#9 UCLA Bruins vs. #16 Arizona Wildcats

8:00PM

UCLA -4.5

Both of these teams had to love the Trojans losing last week. This one will decide who is in the driver seat in the PAC12 South for a little while. Arizona can put up points but without Scooby Wright they are going to give up lots too. As an underdog I really like them though Take Arizona.

#19 USC Trojans vs. Arizona State Wildcats

10:30PM

USC -6

The loss last week does not mean that the Trojans are not a good team but they have to prove it against an Arizona State squad that is looking to prove the same thing. Neither of these teams have beaten anybody this year. The Sun Devils have won the last two and three of four. Take the Trojans.
