College Football Betting: Week 8 Preview

Posted by The Wiesguy on 10/19/2015 9:33:04 PM

Last week was fun. That usually means a return to normal this week but maybe we get lucky. There are some good values out there, especially with Ole Miss. They have to be better than they have shown lately right? Just one of the games to keep your eye on.

Friday October 23

#18 Memphis Tigers vs. Tulsa Golden Hurricanes

8:00PM

Memphis -11.5

Beating Ole Miss was a huge accomplishment for the Memphis program. I am not a Memphis historian but it might have been the biggest win in program history. That means it sets up beautifully for a letdown on the road this week at Tulsa. That is going to be a big number to cover on the road for a team still grappling with this level of success. Fade them here.

Saturday October 24

Iowa State Cyclones vs. #2 Baylor Bears

12:00PM

Baylor -36.5

With every domination the Bears keep climbing up all sorts of lists. This week they will be looking to beat Iowa State by more than TCU did last week . At home they are more than capable of doing so. I hate these big numbers but they are good for it. Take Baylor or take a pass.

Texas Tech Red Raiders at #17 Oklahoma Sooners

3:30PM

Oklahoma -15

They might have cost themselves a playoff shot with their loss against Texas but Oklahoma is doing their best to get noticed now. Last week they dominated Kansas State and this week you can expect more of the same against Texas Tech. The Red Raiders offense is porous to say the least. They might be able to keep this one within a couple of scores the way they fling it around though. Take Tech.

Tennessee Volunteers vs. #8 Alabama Crimson Tide

3:30PM

Alabama -14.5

Week by week it looks more and more like Alabama is destined to return to the playoffs. They have one of the best rosters in the game and are advancing a little further each week - they will be a monster if they represent the SEC West in the title game. Tennessee was supposed to emerge this season but we have only seen fits and starts this year, more fits. It would be a shock if they were able to get over on Alabama in this situation. Take the home team.

#15 Texas A&M Aggies vs. #24 Ole Miss Rebels

3:30PM

Ole Miss -4.5

It was no huge surprise that the Aggies couldn't get it done against Alabama. It's not that this is a bad team, they are just not that elite level. It looked like the Rebels might be at that level for 2015 but they have been on a downside since they knocked off the Crimson Tide. People knock Clemson for failing when they are not supposed to but maybe now that mantle should be passed to the Rebels. I haven't been on them thankfully but if you have this is the time to start earning your money back. Take the Rebels at home.

Washington Huskies vs. #10 Stanford Cardinal

10:00PM

No line currently listed

It looks like Stanford is out to prove the old college football theory that if you are going to lose you better lose early. Their loss to Northwestern is looking worse with each week but they keep getting better, and more importantly, looking better too. They definitely look like the best team in the PAC12 right now and are creeping up the national rankings. Washington is well coached but far from a great team. They may have surprised USC but that team has been a disappointment all season long. Back the home team here.
