NFL Betting: The 3 Best NFL Underdogs To Bet On This Week
After week 14 of the NFL season, the playoff picture cleared up at the top but became a little more muddled in the middle. What are the best selections to go after in week 15?
1 – San Diego Chargers
This is probably the best bet one can find anywhere on the schedule in week 15. The Denver Broncos’ offense did not look very good this past Sunday against Buffalo, and it did not look very good, either, the previous week against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Broncos have scored a total of just five touchdowns in their last two games. They scored 39 points against Miami two and a half weeks ago, but versus the Chiefs and Bills, Peyton Manning has looked ordinary. He has completed a lower percentage of passes. He has thrown a few interceptions. Defenses seem to be getting a better read on him. He looks at least somewhat slowed from a physical standpoint. The Chargers are desperate for a win and know they have to beat Denver here to have any real shot in the AFC West. Playing at home, the Bolts – with a defense that held the New England Patriots in check – should be able to limit Denver to no more than 24 points, very possibly no more than 20. San Diego is a great choice to not only cover the four points, but win the game outright.
2 – Tennessee Titans
The Titans, who are getting two points at home this Sunday, are facing the New York Jets. The ineptitude of the Jets is reason enough to pick the Titans. New York sometimes stumbles in the first half of a game, but even on days when the Jets’ defense plays well enough to win, the offense collapses and goes into hibernation. Such was the case for New York in a Dec. 1 loss at home on Monday Night Football against the Miami Dolphins. The Jets dominated Miami’s offense nearly all game, allowing just one touchdown. However, New York’s offense could barely lift a finger for much of the second half, and suffered a sack at the very place on the field when a long field goal was likely to be cut down by swirling winds. The Jets did just enough to lose, 16-13. This kind of ineptitude on the Jets’ part is why Tennessee can win at home. Zach Mettenberger is a young quarterback, but he’s been able to get a lot of valuable in-game experience. This could be a breakthrough for him, given the quality of opponent.
3 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
When a star quarterback is injured, everything changes right away. The Carolina Panthers know that Cam Newton, having been hurt (fractures in his back) in a car accident on Tuesday, won’t play in this game. This will take an already suffering Carolina offense and make it even worse. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are terrible, but even they stand to benefit from the Newton injury. They didn’t want this to happen, but they are a good selection at +3 against the Panthers.
