Bears 49ers Betting Tips – Bears, 49ers Eager To Bounce Back In Monday Night Showdown
The Chicago Bears had a six-game win streak come to an end with a loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football. The San Francisco 49ers had their win streak come to an end as well, only they didn’t lose either. The 49ers ended a thrilling sports betting contest against their NFC West rival St. Louis Rams with the first NFL tie in four years, as both teams missed field goals that would have ended it in the extra frame. Neither team will have an easy time bouncing back this week either, as San Francisco hosts the Bears on Monday Night Football.

NFL Betting Line: San Francisco 49ers – 5
While it was Chicago that lost its game, the 49ers suffered a loss of their own in the form of a first-half concussion to quarterback Alex Smith. Second-year passer Colin Kaepernick was efficient in relief, giving San Francisco a chance to win in overtime, but he could have a tough time if forced to start against a Bears’ defense that leads the league in takeaways by a wide margin.
NFL Betting Preview: Chicago Bears
That Chicago defense has 30 total takeaways this season, including 19 interceptions and 14 forced fumbles, and a total seven interceptions returned for touchdowns. That dominance is largely responsible for the Bears leading the NFL with a plus-14 turnover differential, and the fact that they are a constant threat to score had instilled an added element of fear in opposing offenses. The strong field position has also helped Chicago on the offensive side of the ball, where running back Matt Forte leads the league’s ninth-ranked rushing attack with an average 4.7 yards per carry this season. The combination of Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall has helped the passing attack, but the Bears are still looking for a secondary threat to stretch the field.
NFL Betting Preview: San Francisco 49ers
The extra day of preparation could help the 49ers in terms of getting Smith back in to the lineup, but there remains a strong possibility that he will not be 100-percent even if he can play. Kaepernick has spent most of his time on the sideline this season, and giving him his first start against this tough Bears’ defense could be trouble. San Francisco will need a strong contribution from its rushing attack regardless of who is under center, and it helps that Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter have each averaged over 5 yards per carry on the league’s leading rushing attack. The 49ers’ defense has actually been better than Chicago’s in terms of yards allowed, but they haven’t been nearly as big of a threat to score.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
For as good as San Francisco has been this season, they have earned just one win in their last three home games, including a blowout loss to the New York Giants and a tie against a three-win Rams’ team. Neither team has been dominant on offense this season, and while both have strong defenses, the Bears are the bigger threat to score and have a healthy offense capable of at least keeping this online betting contest close.
