Bears Cardinals Betting Tips – Fresh Intrigue Emerges When Bears Visit Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals had lost nine straight games, and most NFL pundits figured they'd lose 12 in a row to end their season. Now, however, the calculus is different with Chicago on the slate.
Chicago Bears @ Arizona Cardinals – Sunday, December 23
Sport betting line: Chicago -5
Why Chicago Will Win
When football betting gurus go over the upcoming week of games in the NFL, they will still take the Bears because they're not the train wreck the Detroit Lions have become. One has to be honest here and realize that the Arizona Cardinals broke their nine-game losing streak largely because Detroit played an awful game near the end of a season that has spiraled out of control.
Detroit head coach Jim Schwartz has openly said that his team's season has "gone off the rails," an acknowledgment of the Lions' fall to rock-bottom in 2012. Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford threw not one, but two, pick-sixes, hand-delivering 14 points to the Cardinals. Since one of those pick-sixes came inside Arizona's 35-yard line, it's reasonable to say that Stafford also cost the Lions seven additional points by denying the team its own touchdown.
Arizona's 28-point victory was substantially the result of one Detroit player's awful game. Yes, Arizona was better than Detroit across the board, but not by 28 points. The Cardinals needed the Lions to play one of the worst games of the year in the NFL to finally snap a losing skid that went beyond two full months. Chicago, for all of its problems, is generally losing to good teams. The Bears fell to the 10-4 Green Bay Packers last weekend, and the week before that, they lost to the 8-6 Minnesota Vikings.
Chicago has to fix its offense while accounting for the absence of linebacker Brian Urlacher, but it has better players than Arizona and should be able to win on an afternoon when a loss would deal a crippling blow to the Bears' playoff hopes.
Why Arizona Will Win
Even if you don't care for online casino games, you have to admit that the Cardinals made a lot of money for Las Vegas this past weekend. It's true that the Detroit Lions have been a poor team this year, but few people gave Arizona much of a shot against the Lions this past weekend. After all, Detroit had a somewhat established quarterback in Matthew Stafford.
The Cardinals, losers of a 58-0 blowout against Seattle the week before, were operating with the equivalent of junkyard scraps. It seemed virtually impossible that Arizona could score anything more than 14 or perhaps 17 points on Sunday, but thanks to two pick-sixes, the Cardinals rolled up 38 on the Lions and busted their nine-game losing streak. What was thought to be one steady losing parade to end the season (a 12-game schneid) has suddenly turned into a story of a team that won't quit. Arizona, if it could beat down Detroit, could certainly bother a Chicago side that has lost five of its last six games and is showing no life on the offensive side of the football. More pick-sixes could be produced by Arizona's high-quality secondary.
Who Will Win
This game now feels genuinely intriguing, unlike a week ago. However, the odds suggest that a team with Arizona's limitations will not be able to play well two weeks in a row. Chicago's playoff urgency will prevent the Bears from losing. Take Chicago here.
