Bears Giants Betting Tips – Things Are Brewing In Chicago
Chicago Bears @ New York Giants – Friday August 24, 2012 8:00PM EST
Going into the 2012 regular season, few football betting experts are worried about the New York Giants. The Giants have essentially the same offense in place that won the Super Bowl, with the noted exception of the losses of wide receiver Mario Manningham and running back Brandon Jacobs, and the same defense as well. The New York Giants are that team that no one really pays any attention to until it is the playoffs and the Giants have somehow managed to sneak in with a wild card spot. Last season, the Giants won the NFC East after winning the last game of the season. This season, it is anybody's guess as to how the Giants will finish.
The real questions in the NFC are swirling around the Chicago Bears. Quarterback Jay Cutler and new Chicago wide receiver Brandon Marshall look good as a tandem. But Cutler is also looking good throwing the ball to all of the Chicago receivers. The problems that the sports betting experts see coming is with the Chicago defense. Linebacker Brian Urlacher is having minor surgery that should not prevent him from playing in the regular season opener, but it is questionable as to how effective he is really going to be. Julius Peppers was supposed to get some help on the defensive line, but it looks like he is holding down the fort by himself again.
Why the Giants Will Win
The New York Giants are not showing any kind of game plan or any scheming in this preseason. Head coach Tom Coughlin is famous for playing a very vanilla offense and defense in the preseason. Since Coughlin really isn't looking to fill any major starting roster spots this preseason, he does not need to show his hand. The Giants are always a hard team to read in the preseason and that holds true in 2012. The fans in New York know that the preseason scores mean nothing to the regular season success, but they would still like to see the team take just one preseason game at home.
Why the Bears Will Win
The sportsbook experts have been patiently waiting for preseason week three to see what the Chicago offense will really look like. The offensive line is still a little suspect, but Jay Cutler now has weapons and that could make this offense very dangerous. With the Chicago starters planning on playing most of the first half, it could be very interesting to see where the score stands at halftime.
On defense, the Bears need to figure out its defensive line issues and find quality starters in the secondary. For a team that is built on defense, the Chicago Bears do not look ready to start the season. But that could all change in this game.
The Bottom Line
The New York Giants will give the fans what they want and pull off a home win in the preseason. The only team the game will matter to is the Bears as Chicago is trying desperately to find that combination of players that will make the team competitive in 2012.
