Bengals Steelers Betting Tips – Steelers Forced to Re-Evaluate Team After Loss to Bengals
Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers – Sunday December 23, 2012 1:00PM EST
The NFL betting world is prepared to give all of the credit possible to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Almost no team in the NFL, that was considered a playoff contender, has experienced the depth of injuries that Pittsburgh has seen. The entire offensive line has been completely altered by injuries and the running game has been inconsistent thanks to Isaac Redman and Rashard Mendenhall injuries. Mendenhall was so affected by his injuries that he has been benched. Through it all, the Steelers is still expected to win. But the team is finding that extremely hard to do.
The Cincinnati Bengals’ defense disappeared around week three and recently resurfaced just in time to make a playoff run. But the online sports betting experts are quick to point out that this is more than just a playoff run for the Bengals, this could also be an AFC North title run if the team keeps winning. If Cincinnati can beat the Steelers in week 16, then it conveniently gets the Baltimore Ravens in week 17. All the Bengals need to do to win the AFC North is win out and hope the Ravens lose in week 16. Considering how Baltimore has been playing, the Ravens should be more than willing to oblige.
Why the Steelers Will Win
The notion that Pittsburgh will win because it is the Steelers only goes so far. It is obvious to the betting world that the real problem in Pittsburgh is the ongoing feud between new offensive coordinator Todd Haley and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Even though the season just finished week 15, Roethlisberger is still publicly criticizing the play calling and not making things easy on Haley. This ongoing argument has done more to undermine the Steelers’ season than injuries ever could.
Why the Bengals Will Win
The Cincinnati Bengals has a young and potent offense and a defense that has suddenly decided to start playing well. For the Bengals, these last two games could represent the perfect storm that the team has been hoping for all season long. A weakened Pittsburgh team followed by a struggling Baltimore Ravens’ squad could mean an AFC North title for the Bengals in 2012. All the Bengals have to do is win its last two games and get a little help from the Giants in week 16. Considering how poorly the Bengals started the season, just to be in this position is a pretty amazing feat.
The Bottom Line
The sad thing for the Bengals is that the team is not in this position because it has improved dramatically. It is in this position because the Steelers and Ravens have completely fallen apart. But head coach Marvin Lewis knows an opportunity when he sees one, and this is about as good an opportunity as the Bengals have had in a very long time.
