3 Best NFL Underdogs To Bet On In Week 5
The NFL season is only a few weeks old but we're finally getting to see which teams are for real, and which ones are set for a let down. Two franchises are still looking for their first victory of the year, and another two are still going for that perfect season. Week 5 has its fair share of intriguing match-ups, but the following three teams are underdogs that have a legitimate shot at pulling off the upset.
Atlanta Falcons -4
The Atlanta Falcons are coming off a dismal week in which they lost to a rookie quarterback 41-28. The Minnesota Vikings were in control most of the game, but the Falcons still have one of the best offenses in the league and will be going up against a New York Giants squad that allowed 35 points to the pass-oriented Detroit Lions. Atlanta still has some work to do on the defensive side of the ball, but Eli Manning is one of the most inconsistent quarterbacks in the league and could lose this contest single-handedly.
Arizona Cardinals -7.5
The only reason the undefeated Arizona Cardinals are underdogs is because they're playing the Denver Broncos in Mile High. The Cardinals have lost a few key pieces on the defensive side of the ball, but they're still allowing the fifth fewest yards per game, and the second-least points against with 15. Denver is sure to score more than that, but the Cardinals are a sneaky good team that is getting Carson Palmer back this week, and with a balanced offense should have no problem competing with the Broncos, possibly even winning the game, but at the minimum losing by a touchdown or less.
Cincinnati Bengals -2.5
The Cincinnati Bengals are the second undefeated team on this list of underdogs expected to win. They'll travel to Foxborough to take on the New England Patriots Sunday night, but with the best scoring defense in the league – allowing only 11 points against per game – the Bengals should have no problem slowing Tom Brady and the crowded backfield of Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen. As for the Bengals' offense, however, Andy Dalton is proving worthy of his new contract as the fourth-year pro is completing 65% of his passes and has a quarterback rating of 95.4. The Bengals are one of the most well-rounded squads in the league, and a win next Sunday gives them a reasonable shot at going 16-0.
