Bet On Colts Jaguars – Colts Look To Finish .500 Within The Division After Awful Start
What can be said about an Indianapolis Colts’ team that loses its first 13 games, and then comes out of nowhere to win consecutive contests against division rivals that are fighting for position in this year’s playoff race? The once winless-and-counting Colts have knocked off the Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans in back-to-back games, and with their regular season finale this Sunday at Everbank Field against the Jacksonville Jaguars, this team actually has the chance to finish .500 within their own division.

Considering that the Jaguars have the worst record of the AFC South opponents the Colts play, Indianapolis actually has a legitimate shot of pulling this one off, even if they are labeled as sports betting underdogs once again. Jacksonville has lost five of its last six overall.

It is easy to forget now just how well the Colts’ defense played in close losses against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier in the year, but the truth is that this unit is above average when it is not overexposed. That has been the case in each of Indianapolis’ two wins, including last week against the Texans when quarterback Dan Orlovsky threw for 244 yards and a touchdown without throwing an interception. The Colts also got a solid effort from their running game, which is another important aspect in the turnaround. Defensive end Robert Mathis has two of Indianapolis’ four sacks, and will be on the prowl again this week against rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert.

From what we have seen of Gabbert so far on tape, the Jaguars likely don’t know what they have in their young signal-caller, who was clearly thrust in to the role of starter before he was ready for it. Gabbert has had trouble moving the ball all year, and it may actually surprise some to know that he has thrown the same amount of touchdowns as he has interceptions (11). With the lack of a top passing game Jacksonville has been forced to rely heavily on running back Maurice Jones-Drew, and he has rewarded them by leading the league in rushing yards with 1,437 and eight touchdowns. The Jaguars’ defense ranks in the top-11 against both the run and the pass, so there may not be many areas this team needs to work on moving forward.
Bet On Colts Jaguars Preview: Outlook & Pick
Just the same as the Colts were the past two games, the Jaguars will be hungry for a win this week as they look to make an impression on new ownership and interim head coach Mel Tucker. Jacksonville has been in a lot of games this year thanks to their rushing attack and defense, and now it is up to Gabbert to give the fans something to cheer for with the Jaguars listed as the sportsbook favorites.Bet On Colts Jaguars Pick: Jacksonville Jaguars
