Betting On Jets Rams – Jets And Rams Face Desperate Situation This Weekend
The New York Jets and the St. Louis Rams are at the point of no return. Neither one of these teams can afford more than one loss the rest of the season if they want a shot at the playoffs.
New York Jets @ St. Louis Rams – Sunday, November 18
Sport betting line: St. Louis -3
Why New York Will Win
If you want to make a winning bet on this game, here's why you might want to pick the Jets: They're playing the Rams. Really – you don't want to pick New York because of its own roster. The Jets have been a dumpster fire on offense. However, against the Rams, they certainly have a chance, because St. Louis so regularly proves to be its own worst enemy.
The Rams should have beaten the San Francisco 49ers this past weekend. It's true that they didn't lose, but the 24-24 tie was still a disappointing result, given that the Rams owned a 14-0 lead and were still ahead in the final minutes of regulation time. St. Louis' defense buckled in the final minute of the fourth quarter, though, allowing a tying field goal to the Niners. On the first series of downs in overtime, the Rams thought they had registered a kill shot by uncorking a pass of over 70 yards to the San Francisco 3-yard line. However, a receiver failed to line up on the line of scrimmage. By lining up one yard off the line, the receiver put the right tackle in an eligible receiver's position. The lineman did not report himself as an eligible receiver, though, so an illegal formation existed. The dumb penalty wiped out the huge gain and a likely game-winning touchdown.
Later in overtime, the Rams had a chance to win with a field goal. Moreover, they thought they had won when kicker Greg Zuerlein banged through a 53-yard kick. However, the center snap (ordered by the holder) did not beat the play clock. A baffling delay of game penalty wiped out the kick. A subsequent 58-yard field goal try missed, and the Rams did not get another chance to win. This is the team the Jets are playing. This is a team the Jets can beat.
Why St. Louis Will Win
When NFL betting students settle in and assess this game, they might consider the Rams for these reasons: First, New York's offense is awful. The Jets scored a defensive touchdown last weekend against another NFC West team, the Seattle Seahawks… and did not score another point for the rest of the game. The Jets' offense got bageled, and it was shut out on one other occasion this season (against San Francisco) while scoring 10 points or fewer on two other occasions this season. Mark Sanchez has been terrible at quarterback, and his skill people have not been able to help him out to any appreciable extent.
The other thing to keep in mind about this game is that the Rams have a very strong pass rush. Playing at home in a domed stadium, the Rams should be able to get a good push from their front four. They should be able to rattle Sanchez and create multiple turnovers.
Who Will Win
The Rams might not score a lot, but as long as they avoid big mistakes on offense, their defense should be able to clean up against the punchless Jets. Take St. Louis here.
