Bills Bengals Betting – Failing Bengals Look To Get Back On Track Against Lowly Bills
After winning two of their first three games, it appeared as though the Cincinnati Bengals were prepared to return to the playoffs for the second time in as many seasons, something the team had never done under head coach Marvin Lewis. But after six straight losses including a 23-17 defeat at the Indianapolis Colts this past Sunday, the Bengals are alone in the AFC North basement, and out of contention.
Cincinnati will attempt to get back in the win column this Sunday when they welcome the Buffalo Bills to Paul Brown Stadium. The Buffalo Bills dropped eight straight to open the 2010-11 season, but after clinching their first victory of the season by taking down the Detroit Lions 14-12, the team is suddenly optimistic they can make it two in a row.
Why To Bet On The Bills?
Despite just one win through their first nine games, the Bills have not lost by more than three points since their bye week, a testament to how competitive this team has been. Overtime losses to a couple of playoff contenders in the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs could have easily been victories, and one week after that Buffalo posted a 22-19 loss to the Chicago Bears. After finally getting over that hump and securing a win against the Lions, the Buffalo locker room is treading with a little more confidence this week. The Bills will again rely heavily on running back Fred Jackson, who rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown in the win, while quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will be expected to manage the offense without turning the ball over.
Why To Bet On The Bengals?
The Bengals turned the ball over five times in their seventh straight loss to the Colts, and once again they looked like a team in disarray. Cincinnati has now lost six straight and can be considered out of playoff contention, but this is about much more than that for a team that felt deserved better. Quarterback Carson Palmer will have a week to look over tape and correct the mistakes that led to three interceptions, while the offensive focus may shift back to Terrell Owens somewhat after Chad Ochocinco made seven catches against Indianapolis. Despite the turnovers, the Bengals were still good enough to keep it close against a talented Colts team, and may get a better end result against the Bills.
How The Game Will Play Out
While Buffalo have finally won a game and have played well recently, it must be recognized that their lone win came against a team that hasn’t won on the road in years. The Bills will face a much tougher task this week against a Cincinnati team desperate to get back on track. Anything less than a football betting victory here and there could be major changes on the way for the Bengals.
