Browns Colts Betting Predictions – Colts And Browns Meet, Trying To Improve
The Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts are immersed in difficult battles, trying to climb higher in the NFL's overall pecking order. They meet this weekend in Indianapolis.
Cleveland Browns @ Indianapolis Colts – Sunday, October 21
NFL betting line: Indianapolis -3
Why Cleveland Will Win
The betting websites that follow the NFL with particular meticulousness are impressed with the extent to which the Cleveland Browns are not giving up on their season. It would have been so easy for coach Pat Shurmur's team to fold up the tents and think about a high pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, given the way that their season started, but instead, the Browns rallied around the flag and beat their in-state rival, the Cincinnati Bengals, this past Sunday. The Browns received high-impact plays from their defense, which confused Cincinnati quarterback Andy Dalton throughout the proceedings.
If Cleveland can use this level of disguise and agility on defense against Indianapolis, it can certainly confuse a rookie quarterback, Andrew Luck. It's certainly true that Luck is not an ordinary, run-of-the-mill rookie, but he is still a first-year player who is prone to mistakes and lapses, just like any other newbie in the National Football League. Cleveland knows that its ticket to victory is precisely its ability to make big plays on defense. The Browns snagged four interceptions and five turnovers overall in a narrow week-one loss to Philadelphia. That's an exception – getting five turnovers and still losing. If Cleveland gets five turnovers and four interceptions this week, it will almost certainly win.
Why Indianapolis Will Win
When playing online poker, you need to shrug off one bad hand or round and fight the next battle with renewed resolve. The Colts did get embarrassed by the New York Jets this past weekend, and there's simply no hiding from that fact. However, the rout was predictable in that the Jets were playing the third game of a very rare three-game homestand. The Jets were able to sleep in their own beds for a third straight week. They also had to hear about how bad they were and how much of an embarrassment they had become after losing home games to the San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texans. Those two teams – San Francisco and Houston – are really good, of course, so in comparison to the 49ers and Texans, the Colts didn't have as many weapons. They did not match up well with the Jets. Again, the loss was bad, but the situation simply didn't set up very well for the Colts at all.
This game, on the other hand, sets up great for Indianapolis. The Colts will want to wipe away the bad taste of that loss to the Jets. They'll be very motivated. Moreover, Cleveland is coming off a home-field win. The Browns are going to find it very hard to win two straight games at any point this season. The scales are probably going to even out this week.
Who Will Win
Indeed, the pendulum should swing back to the other side in this matchup. The Browns had a great week and the Colts did not. Indianapolis should therefore be able to restore itself, while the odds suggest that Cleveland will go back to its losing ways.
