Browns Giants Betting Predictions – Defending Super Bowl Champs Look To Bounce Back Versus Browns On Sunday
The New York Giants grew accustomed to coming out on top in close games during their Super Bowl run a year ago. After coming up one score short against a division rival for the second time in as many games this season, the Giants will look to get back on track against the winless Cleveland Browns this week. A late offensive pass interference call pulled a potential game-winning field goal from Lawrence Tynes just short in New York’s 19-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night, but now the attention will turn to a contest against a Browns’ team that has lost four-straight to open the sports betting season and the chance to get back above .500.
Cleveland Browns @ New York Giants
Sunday October 7, 2012 – 4:25 PM ET
MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey
NFL Betting Line: New York Giants – 9
The Giants, Dallas Cowboys, and Washington Redskins are all 2-2 through four games, one win back of the NFC East-leading Eagles in the division. New York is going to need to find a way to win against those teams to have any chance at making the playoffs, but for this week the goal is to not get caught looking too far ahead.
NFL Betting Preview: Cleveland Browns
The Browns haven’t been as bad as an 0-4 record may indicate, but they have come up short in the biggest moments of some close losses. Only one of Cleveland’s four losses has been by a double-digit differential, a sign that they have competed against some pretty good teams so far. Traveling to New York for their second road game in as many weeks won’t be easy on the Browns, which will need to rely on running back Trent Richardson to carry the load on offense. Richardson rushed for just 47 yards against the Baltimore Ravens, but will need to have a big game in order to hold possession and keep fellow rookie, quarterback Brandon Weeden from being forced in to pressure situations.
NFL Betting Preview: New York Giants
The Giants’ defensive line will look to get after Weeden from the opening snap and make every possession a pressure situation. After repeatedly getting burned by the Eagles off the edge, look for the New York defense to play under control and not make the same mistakes in over pursuing that cost them last week. On the offensive side of the ball, quarterback Eli Manning and the second-ranked passing group put up 309 yards and one touchdown against the Eagles. The loss of Hakeem Nicks for another week won’t help lift that number higher, but the Giants do have some emerging weapons in Domenik Hixon and Ramses Barden.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
For as good as the Browns played against the Ravens a week ago, traveling for the second time in as may weeks after a disappointing rivalry loss won’t be easy. Factor in that the Giants are coming off a close loss to the Eagles and are back home, and this game could be an online sportsbook blowout by the end of the first half.
