Buccaneers 49ers Betting – Bucs Continue To Roll, Score Road Win In San Fran
- What: NFL betting
- When: Sunday, November 21st, 4:05 PM ET
- Where: Candlestick Park, San Francisco, CA
- Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers +3
Online betting players have to be surprised by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this year, as everyone knew that they had some good, young pieces, but no one expected them to gel this quickly. The Bucs head west to face another young team in the San Francisco 49ers, and we’re taking the Bucs and a quarterback who has shown a knack for pulling out close games.
What’s On The Line
The Buccaneers (6-3) pulled away with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter of a 31-16 win at home over the Carolina Panthers, while the 49ers (3-6) needed overtime to take down St. Louis 23-20 at home, where all three of their wins have come. The surprising Bucs are trying to keep pace with the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints in the NFC South, while the 49ers are just looking to keep some momentum going as their shot at a postseason spot is likely over, but they’ll keep pushing.
Offensive Matchups: Buccaneers 49ers Betting
Tampa Bay’s young offense is getting better with each game, and Josh Freeman had a great game against the Panthers, completing 18 of his 24 attempts for 241 yards, two touchdowns and better yet, no interceptions. He also gets better as the game goes on, and that’s always a good thing for a young quarterback. The ground game is gaining traction as LaGarrett Blount and Cadillac Williams led a group that ran for 186 yards, and if they can keep this up, Freeman’s progression will speed up even more.
The San Francisco offense seems to be rolling with Troy Smith at the helm, and the only question is: what took so long to replace Alex Smith? Against the St. Louis Rams, Troy completed just 17 passes, but threw for 356 yards and a touchdown while spreading the ball around. This will surely keep the opposition from putting eight in the box against Frank Gore, who had 87 yards and a score while averaging 4.0 yards per carry.

Defensive Matchups: Buccaneers 49ers Betting
The Bucs aren’t the defensive juggernaut that they were years ago, and they gave up 300 yards against a poor Carolina team, but they’re getting better and the pieces are in place. They have solid players in all three areas of the defense. Rookie tackle Gerald McCoy, who doesn’t have good numbers, but he’s earning double-teams already. That usually frees up linebacker Barrett Ruud, who had 10 tackles and a sack to lead against the Panthers. Cornerback Aqib Talib had eight tackles and is already one of the top cover men in the league, but he still has to rein in his gambling instincts sometimes.
The 49ers’ defense is 16th in the NFL, which is six spots above the Bucs, and even though they gave up 332 yards against the Rams, they made the stops when they needed to. On 14 third-down opportunities, the 49ers stopped the Rams 12 times. The linebackers are in good hands with Patrick Willis and Takeo Spikes, and the secondary is solid if not spectacular. It’s the same story up front, where end Justin Smith is on pace to have his best season in terms of sacks.

Notable Injuries: Buccaneers 49ers Betting
Offensive tackle Jeremy Trueblood (knee) practiced this week, but the Bucs may sit him anyway while linebacker Quincy Black (ankle) didn’t practice after missing last week’s game.
Cornerback Will James (concussion) is unlikely to feature for the 49ers.
Betting Edge: 49ers
Outlook and Pick: Buccaneers 49ers Betting
The 49ers are favored by a field goal according to NFL betting odds, and they’ve owned the Bucs at Candlestick Park, going 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS since 1992. However, Tampa Bay is 4-0 ATS on the road this year, and we’re willing to go with them for the upset this week. It’s a later start, so the time change won’t make that big of a difference, and we’re willing to take Freeman over Smith (either of them) if the game comes down to one possession. The San Francisco secondary can also be breached. Take the Bucs on the road for the sports betting upset.
Stan’s Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
