Cardinals Patriots Betting Predictions – Game Cards Not Enough to Beat Pats at Home
Arizona Cardinals @ New England Patriots – Sunday September 16, 2012 1:00PM EST
The Arizona Cardinals and the New England Patriots had something in common for week one of the regular season. Both teams watched as their starting quarterbacks were dropped with vicious hits. The difference that the NFL betting public noticed was that the Patriots' Tom Brady was able to finish the game and Cardinals' quarterback John Skelton was not able to finish. In an era where everyone makes too much out of little events, these two developments were fairly significant and will have an effect in this game.
The betting websites are reporting that Skelton's injury was an ankle sprain, but it was not serious enough to take him out of this game. However, a bad ankle on a quarterback that is already not very mobile may not be something the Cardinals are looking forward to. Tom Brady's slightly broken nose will not prevent him from playing in this game, and it probably won't stop him from making the cover of "GQ" magazine either.
Why the Cardinals Will Win
The Cardinals can win this game because the team has learned a lot about playing defense against an offense like the one the Patriots use. The Cardinals have the linebackers that can clog up the middle of the field to take away the Wes Welker element, and they can also run the sidelines to take away the tight ends.
On offense, the Cardinals actually had a pretty strong running game going against the Seahawks which should still be intact for this game against the Patriots. The only question is whether the Cardinals will be able to get the ball into the hands of superstar wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. If the Cards can play long ball, then it can win this game.
Why the Patriots Will Win
The sports betting world has taken notice of the much improved New England Patriots' defense and how the Pats completely dominated the line of scrimmage in the opening game against the Tennessee Titans. All the Patriots have to do is keep the Cardinals' offense off balance with a potent pass rush and prevent any big runs up the middle and the New England offense should be able to take care of the rest.
The Bottom Line
The Arizona Cardinals will not be as easy to disregard this season as the team does have potential on both sides of the ball. But going up against the Patriots in New England's home opener is a tall order. Arizona will make a good showing of itself, but it will not be able to pull off the upset.
