Chargers 49ers Betting Tips – Chargers Look To Slow Down Kaepernick
San Francisco 49ers’ head coach Jim Harbaugh wasted little time establishing a winning culture in his locker room, and coming off an NFC Championship game appearance in his first season with the team fans in the Bay area can’t wait to see what he has in store for Year Two. The same sense of optimism isn’t present just miles away in San Diego where Norv Turner and the Chargers have been labeled perennial underachievers, although this could finally be the year they break through and exceed expectations. Part of that is expectations now much lower than they were last season, but the sports betting numbers also tell a story of a team that has looked very good this preseason.

NFL Betting Line: San Francisco 49ers – 3
San Diego has won its first three games by an average of less than a touchdown, but it is the consistency and attention to detail that has made the difference in three close wins so far. Both teams will sit their starters in the final tuneup before the regular season, and that should give us a good idea of what the depth on each team will look like.
NFL Betting Preview: San Diego Chargers
The Chargers’ defense in particular has done an excellent job this preseason, particularly up front where Jarrett Johnson and Shaun Phillips have brought a ton of pressure from the outside linebacker positions. With Takeo Spikes and Donald Butler holding down the interior against the run, San Diego may have one of the most underrated linebacker core’s in the entire NFL. Matching the defense’s production on offense could be a little trickier unless tight end Antonio Gate and running back Ryan Matthrews can stay healthy. Neither will play in this final exhibition game, which will give us a good look at what is behind them should they get injured during the regular season.
NFL Betting Preview: San Francisco 49ers
After coming within one win of the Super Bowl in his first season, Harbaugh invested heavily in playmakers that could help bring the offense to the high level the defense performed a year ago. The 49ers are stacked at wide receiver with Michael Crabtree, Randy Moss, Mario Manningham, AJ Jenkins and so on, and they also have a solid rookie running back in LaMichael James. Backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick has drawn solid praise from the coaches and sportsbook fans in the area, and will get another chance to prove he is ready to start in the NFL.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
The 49ers have the better depth of the two teams, and with injuries taking their toll on the San Diego roster early it’s likely Turner will take a step back and use a lot of his second and third-string players. This will be Kaepernick’s last chance to show what he can do before Alex Smith takes over the starting role for week one of the regular season, and it will be important for him to leave a strong impression on Harbaugh as San Francisco ends the Chargers’ perfect preseason run.
