Reid Leads Chiefs In To Philadelphia To Face Former Team On Thursday Night
Andy Reid spent 14 seasons as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles before he was fired this past offseason. It didn’t take long for him to make his return to the city that both loved and hated him for so long. Reid will lead the Kansas City Chiefs in to Philadelphia on Thursday night, as they look to improve to 3-0. The Chiefs had their way with the Jacksonville Jaguars in week one before narrowly edging out the Dallas Cowboys in a 17-16 win, and now play the Eagles in the second of three-straight online sports betting contests against NFC East opponents.

Philadelphia’s current head coach Chip Kelly quickly made headlines for his offense’s performance in week one, but it was the defense that was in the week-two spotlight for all of the wrong reasons. The Eagles gave up a ridiculous 539 yards of total offense against the San Diego Chargers, and couldn’t get the ball back often enough in a 33-30 loss.
NFL Betting Preview: Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City defense has been solid against the run through the first two weeks, ranking second in the NFL with an average of just 54 yards per game allowed. That has forced teams to try and move the ball through the air, and the Chiefs’ secondary has been up to the challenge. Alex Smith is the key addition that has turned things around on the offensive side of the ball under Reid, throwing for 396 yards and four touchdowns through two games. More importantly, Smith and the Kansas City offense didn’t give the ball away against Dallas, forcing them to beat them while winning the turnover battle for the second-straight week.
NFL Betting Preview: Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia offense actually moved the ball faster against San Diego than it had the previous week against the Redskins, but they didn’t have nearly as many opportunities thanks to the Chargers’ ability to move the ball and maintain possession. Michael Vick threw for a career-high 428 yards and had three total touchdowns, but the offense struggled to find the endzone early on and in the end the defense wasn’t able to make a stop. The Eagles’ defense did force two first-half turnovers inside their own 10 to even have a chance in that game, but must do a better job lining up and making stops.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
The Chiefs have looked very good through the first two weeks and will be aiming to get this one for Reid, but it’s important to remember that on the other side of the ball is a head coach that is just as eager to prove himself and make a statement. Kelly didn’t hide his disappointment following the sports betting loss to the Chargers, and will have his defense much more ready for an offense they know very well when these teams clash in a short week. Reid is the focus going in to the game, but this one will be just as much about the new coach in Philly in Kelly.
