Chiefs Packers Betting Predictions – Packers, Chiefs Battle to Finish Preseason With .500 Record
The Green Bay Packers have their sights set on redemption for this coming NFL season. Before that, they will need to host the Kansas City Chiefs in the final preseason game for both teams, an exhibition deemed necessary as the last opportunity for players on the bubble with rosters set to be cut down to the final 53 following Thursday’s games. Both teams enter this game with their key position battles already decided, which leaves this game to focus on the depth both teams will move forward with this regular season. Green Bay and Kansas City will each look to get back to .500 to complete the preseason, but one of these two sports betting teams is destined to fall to 1-3.

NFL Betting Line: Kansas City Chiefs – 1
A wealth of depth on the offense couldn’t compensate for a lack of depth on the defensive side of the ball when the Packers were knocked out of the playoffs by the eventual Super Bowl champion New York Giants a year ago. Green Bay addressed issues on that side of the ball by spending its first six picks in the 2012 NFL draft on the defense, but the positive results the team was looking for have not been immediate.
NFL Betting Preview: Kansas City Chiefs
While the exhibition results won’t count in the regular season standings, the way that teams perform within the games is still very important as it sets the tone for the games that matter. That is the why consecutive blowout losses to the St. Louis Rams and Seattle Seahawks should be important for Chiefs’ head coach Romeo Crennel and his staff, especially considering his team gave up an average of 37.5 points in those two defeats. Kansas City is expected to rest its starters although rookie defensive tackle Dontari Poe has been named a starter for this week’s game, and it will be interesting to see how the defense in particular responds after a couple of big losses.
NFL Betting Preview: Green Bay Packers
The Packers’ defense looked much better last week when it held the Cincinnati Bengals to just one touchdown after consecutive losses to the San Diego Chargers and Cleveland Browns to open the preseason. While Green Bay will be in tough to crack the top-five on that side of the ball, it should get a better year from a defense that will have six rookie players on the roster. The depth has led to competition for depth spots with second-round pick Jerel Worthy pushing for a starting job at right defensive end, and that’s exactly what head coach Mike McCarthy wants to see. The Packers’ offense is already really deep, particularly at wide receiver where Randall Cobb and James Jones could be starters but currently man the fourth and fifth spots on the depth chart.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
The Chiefs are considered the slight online betting favorites for this game based on the fact that the bookies think they will play this game with more urgency while Green Bay is set to turn its attention to week one, but that still won’t make it easy on Kansas City. The Packers now have solid depth on both sides of the ball, and winning as the road team at Lambeau Field is never an easy thing to do.
