Colts Look To Keep Texans Down On Sunday Night Football
The Indianapolis Colts exceeded almost all online sports betting expectations when they earned an AFC Wild Card berth just one year after a 2-14 season. As we reach the midway mark of the season, it’s safe to say they are doing it again. The Colts have won five of their first seven games to establish themselves as the team to beat in the AFC South as they get set to face the rival Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football. Houston has fallen almost completely out of the playoff picture after losing five-straight to fall to 2-5, and right now the goal is just to stop the bleeding and find a way to get back in to the win column. It certainly won’t be easy this week with both teams coming off their bye, and Indianapolis playing as though they are very capable contenders in the AFC.

NFL Sports Betting Line: Indianapolis – 2.5
The Texans beat out the Colts by one game to win the AFC South a year ago, but the odds of that happening again this season are very slim at this point. Indianapolis has already beaten all three Super Bowl favorites in the Broncos, Seahawks, and 49ers, and consistency will be the key as they enter a stretch playing three of four on the road.
NFL Betting Preview: Indianapolis Colts
One of the interesting notes about the Colts right now is how they have moved the ball on offense to this point in the year, as they rank just 21 st in passing yards per game with an average of just 215.4 per game. Indianapolis went out of its way to add a former first-round pick at running back when they acquired Trent Richardson from the Cleveland Browns, and it has paid off already as they rank ninth in the NFL with 129.3 yards per game on the ground. That balance will be even more important come December when the Colts travel to Cincinnati and then potentially on the road in the playoffs depending on how far they go. The Indianapolis defense isn’t elite, but it has stepped up in big games and done just enough to help get the job done in several notable wins to this point.
NFL Betting Preview: Houston Texans
Turnovers have been the biggest issue among many for Houston, and it hasn’t mattered whether it’s Matt Schaub, TJ Yates, or rookie Case Keenum under center. The Texans actually rank in the top half of the league both in terms of their run game and moving the ball through the air, but they haven’t capitalized in terms of scoring and turnovers have taken their toll. Houston owns the top-ranked pass defense in the NFL thanks to a powerful defensive line led by JJ Watt and a strong secondary boasted by the acquisition of Ed Reed at safety, but too many times they have been put in tough situations. Protecting the football and not turning it over is key to improving the scoring numbers improving on both sides of the ball, but it simply hasn’t happened yet.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
The Colts have done an amazing job this year avoiding any letdown under head coach Chuck Pagano, and that is truly testament to how good of a job he has done. The Texans meanwhile have really struggled under Gary Kubiak, and his seat will become even hotter this online betting week with a close loss to the AFC South rival Indianapolis on the national stage.
