Colts, Titans Look To Bounce Back On Short Week Thursday Night
The Indianapolis Colts went back to work this week with more than a few issues to address following their worst loss of the season to this point. There is only so much that gets done in a short week, but at least they had their franchise quarterback available. The same could not be said for Indianapolis’ next opponent, the Tennessee Titans, which will be without Jake Locker for the rest of the online sports betting season following a Lisfranc injury he suffered in the second quarter of last week’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Both teams will be eager to hit the field this Thursday and put last week’s losses behind them, but only Indy will have its starter under center as Andrew Luck and the Colts clash with Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Titans on Thursday Night Football.

NFL Sports Betting Line: Indianapolis – 3
Tennessee spoiled an excellent opportunity to close the gap on Indianapolis at the top of the AFC South, allowing Jacksonville to earn its first win of the season in the process. The Titans already faced an uphill climb when Locker was available, but their chances took a major hit when he was lost heading in to a crucial three-week stretch.
NFL Betting Preview: Indianapolis Colts
These teams will meet twice over the next three weeks with the Colts having an excellent opportunity to all but lock up first place in the AFC South. Indy will certainly have to be better than it was last week, and it begins under center with Luck. The second-year passer threw for a season-high 353 yards and a touchdown, but he was also sacked three times, threw a season-high three interceptions, and had a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. It was an uncharacteristic performance for a Colts’ team that has played its best in its biggest games to this point in the year, so look for them to bear down this week and find a way to bounce back on a short week.
NFL Betting Preview: Tennessee Titans
Tennessee will have a much tougher time putting last week’s loss behind them now that they don’t have Locker. Fitzpatrick threw for 264 yards and two touchdowns in relief of Locker last week, but he was also stripped for a fumble that was returned for the game-winning touchdown. The Titans may try and take a page from the St. Louis Rams after watching Tavon Austin torch the Indianapolis defense on deep passes a week ago, but that will require establishing a strong balance with the run early on. Chris Johnson averaged less than three yards per carry on 12 attempts last week, but should get plenty of touches this week as Tennessee pounds the rock inside to try and open up room in the pass game. The Titans’ defense stepped up in the second half last week, but turnovers ultimately cost them and they must be more efficient this week.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
The fact that Tennessee didn’t come to play at home last week against an inferior opponent at home should be a major concern, and it’s not going to get any easier against Indianapolis. The Colts were stunned by the Rams in a rare letdown under head coach Chuck Pagano last week, so you can bet they will be fired up this week as they look to bounce back and grind out a tough online betting win on the road with the chance to move one step closer to locking up the AFC South.
