Dolphins, Cowboys Open NFL Season With Hall Of Fame Game In Canton Sunday
The National Football League season is upon us and while it may be exhibition, online sports betting football fans aren’t going to complain that the Hall of Fame game is here. The Dallas Cowboys will host the Miami Dolphins in this year’s preseason opener at Canton and while the emphasis will be on avoiding injuries, there will be a sense of pride on the line for both teams. Miami loaded up in the offseason to make a playoff push and will look to open their year on positive note, while the Cowboys are looking for a strong start in a make or break year under Jason Garrett.

It’s hard to say for sure how many stars will make an appearance in this game and how many snaps each player will get, which is why it is important to keep an eye on the wire this week. Dallas has already confirmed Tony Romo will not play, but it does appear as though the Dolphins will give second-year pro Ryan Tannehill a series or two.
NFL Betting Preview: Miami Dolphins
Tannehill has looked good in offseason activities and while he might only get a few throws in, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all if Miami tries to air it out one or two times. Mike Wallace was the Dolphins’ biggest free agent signing as they try and spread the offense around a bit, and they have a lot of speed in terms of depth players with Marcus Thigpen and rookie Mike Gillilee. Rookie third-overall pick Dion Jordan will make his NFL debut at outside linebacker, as Miami used four of its first five picks on the defensive side of the ball in this year’s NFL Draft.
NFL Betting Preview: Dallas Cowboys
No Romo means that veteran Kyle Orton will likely start for Dallas and roll with whatever starters from the first team see action, with Nick Stephens and Alex Tanney both getting the chance to audition for the third-string job. Running back DeMarco Murray will likely be held back as well considering decisions will have to be made with a large running back core that includes Lance Dunbar, Phillip Tanner, and Terrance Williams. The defense is a work in progress under new defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, and it will be interesting to see how they hold up against Tannehill early on.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
Romo might not play, but the Cowboys’ offense with Orton under center may not be that much of a drop off from what to expect on the other side with Tannehill likely limited and Pat Devlin set to see a majority of the snaps. The pressure from owner Jerry Jones is already tangible, and it will be a lot more important for Dallas to set the tone from the sports betting outset than it will be for a Dolphins’ team still working out the kinks on both sides of the ball.
NFL Betting Pick: Dallas Cowboys +2
