Coming Off A Tough Loss Miami Dolphins Get Break Against Jets
The Miami Dolphins lost to the streaking Carolina Panthers last week because of a late game Panthers touchdown. The Dolphins are seemingly out of the playoff hunt at 5-6 and third place in the AFC East, but they will get a break this weekend against the struggling New York Jets. Geno Smith has been underperforming lately, and this weekend will be an important one concerning his position as the team’s starting QB.

Odds: Jets -2
What To Watch For From The New York Jets
The Jets somehow managed to be the sports book decided favorite in this game, which is surprising given they are on a two game losing streak at the moment. They did show promise earlier in the season, likely the reason they are a slight favorite, but as of late their offense simply hasn’t been performing. Last week Geno looked so bad throwing the ball the Jets allowed wide receiver Josh Cribbs to attempt two passes on the day, one of which he actually completed. Aside from Geno’s two interceptions and 22.3 QB rating, the run game for the Jets was held to just 102 yards on a 3.6 yards per carry average. The Jets have plenty of work to do on offense, but their best hope at getting a victory this Sunday is if their defense can get to Ryan Tannehill and force some turnovers.
What To Watch For From The Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins played the Panthers extremely close last week and a large reason for that was the throwing arm of Tannehill. The second-year quarterback threw for 310 yards against a rather stout Panthers defense, and with a running game that gained only 52 yards, the close loss is all the more impressive. The Dolphins will likely to be without a solid run game this Sunday again as the Jets have the best run stopping defense in the league, to go along with a below average secondary. Taneehill will once again be the most important offensive member for the Dolphins, and given he targeted Mike Wallace deep last week, maybe the first-year Dolphin receiver can begin earning the monster contract he signed in the offseason.
The way Geno has been struggling the last few weeks, and the amount of pressure the Dolphins defense can put on an opposing quarterback, I’m expecting the rookie to have another rough week this coming Sunday. With Cameron Wake, Jared Odrick, and Randy Starks being among the best pass rushing defensive linemen in the league, the Jets will have a tough time scoring, leading to a Dolphins win over a division rival.
