Eagles Buccaneers Betting Tips – Bucs Hope To Feast On Reeling, Plummeting Eagles
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have played tough teams the past two weeks. They hope to find easier sledding this upcoming week when they face the Philadelphia Eagles.
Philadelphia Eagles @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Sunday, December 9
Online betting line: Tampa Bay -8
Why Philadelphia Will Win
In much the same way that an online poker game is unpredictable, so are the Eagles on offense at the moment. A lot of people were likely very surprised that Philadelphia, for all of its injuries and limitations on offense, was able to score 33 points on the road against Dallas this past weekend on Sunday Night Football. Quarterback Nick Foles seems to be getting the hang of things in the NFL. He hit 22 of 34 passes – a very respectable completion percentage, just under 67 percent – and did not throw a single interception. Foles' growing comfort level offers legitimate reason for contending that Philadelphia might win this game on Sunday.
If the Eagles were truly packing in their season and tanking under embattled head coach Andy Reid, they wouldn't have put up much of a fight in Dallas, but they contested the Cowboys tooth and nail until the very end. This is a team that is pushing onward toward the finish, and with Tampa Bay hardly being a model of stability or composure in crunch-time situations, the Eagles could definitely steal this game in the fourth quarter without it being too much of a shock to anyone in the pro football community.
Why Tampa Bay Will Win
When NFL betting commentators give this game a thorough examination, they will be brought back to a fundamental reality: The Philadelphia Eagles are a shell of their former selves. It's true that Nick Foles is getting better as a quarterback, but really, who are we kidding? The Eagles, two years ago, had Michael Vick playing well and were a legitimate threat to go to the Super Bowl. It really does seem that the Eagles, as a franchise in their most recent and modern configuration, never recovered from their loss to the Green Bay Packers in the wild card round of the 2010 playoffs, staged in January of 2011.
The Eagles lost their edge that day, and they also failed to capitalize on a season in which Vick was healthy. The last two seasons, Vick has been pummeled, and so Philadelphia's window of opportunity has closed. This is not the Eagle team or organization of past years. Tampa Bay is playing a clearly inferior and wounded opponent on Sunday. The Bucs, at home, should take full advantage.
Who Will Win
It’s simply a matter of attrition: Philadelphia has been beaten up and thinned out as the season has developed. The Eagles have no offensive line and not much of a quarterback. They're basically playing out the string at this point and will find it hard to duplicate their solid offensive performance from last week. Take Tampa Bay here.
