Bradford, Eagles Look To Build Off Explosive Offensive Performance In NFC East Showdown With Giants On Monday Night Football
It might have taken a few weeks to click but after an offensive outburst in Week 5 the Philadelphia Eagles are hoping they are at the start of something special. The New York Giants might have something to say about that this week. The Giants will visit Philadelphia for this week’s Monday Night Football showdown and while it is still relatively early in the year there is a lot at stake heading in to this game. The Dallas Cowboys have dropped three straight games since quarterback Tony Romo was injured and the Washington Redskins aren’t expected to be a legitimate contender in the division even despite their strong play so this game should either help New York pull away a bit atop the NFC East or allow Philadelphia to move in to a tie for top spot.

NFL Betting Line: Philadelphia -4.5
Sam Bradford overcame two early redzone interceptions to throw for 333 yards and two touchdowns while running back DeMarco Murray ran for 83 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles’ 39-17 win over the New Orleans Saints. Now the key is to carry over the momentum in to this week’s showdown with the Giants and avoid falling back in to the same mistakes they made earlier on. The biggest question marks for Philadelphia remain whether or not they can protect the football and avoid turnovers as well as whether or not they can make enough big plays to play at a breakneck speed on offense. The Eagles actually won the possession time battle against the Saints and their defense forced four turnovers in the win. That’s a big reason why Philadelphia was able to compile 519 total yards of offense and the spotlight will be on them this week to see if it can continue. The Giants defense has given up plenty of big plays through the air so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Bradford take some shots early on. New York’s defense has held up well over the past few weeks but the key to their turnaround has been smart decisions with the football. The Giants have climbed out of an 0-2 hole to get to 3-2 but they could very well be 5-0 if it wasn’t for the fact that they managed to become the first team in NFL history to blow consecutive double-digit fourth quarter leads to open a season. The good news for New York is that Eli Manning has performed at such a high level, completing 66.5-percent of his passes for 1,417 yards and 10 touchdowns compared to just two interceptions. The Giants may have blown a couple of games earlier in the year but they have rallied back since and overall they have had more success than the Eagles this season. Philadelphia did look good last week but New York has looked good for all but two quarters this season and considering the sample size as well as the fact that the Giants could very well win this game straight up the smart money should be on Manning and company to cover.
Pick: New York +4
Both teams have been in some high scoring games this season and considering the Eagles offense finally clicked last week there is every reason to expect that will continue. Philadelphia can score points in bunches but so can the Giants and we expect them to hang around in this one. Look for these teams to go back and forth with one of the higher scoring games of the week and one that definitely ends up going over the total.
