Eagles Steelers Betting Tips – Eagles, Steelers Clash In Battle Of State Rivals On Sunday
The Philadelphia Eagles have won three games by a combined four points to open the regular season with a 3-1 record. While they are happy with their record so far, Eagles’ fans certainly wouldn’t mind winning by an even bigger margin this week when they play the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Penn. State battle. Pittsburgh is in need of a sports betting win coming off its bye week at 1-2 after a tough loss to the Oakland Raiders in week 3, and could get a boost with the possible return of both Troy Polamalu and James Harrison. The Steelers’ defense was lacking its trademark bite through the first three weeks, and the home fans will be hoping the return of two Pro Bowl defenders is enough to get them back on track.

Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
NFL Betting Line: Pittsburgh Steelers – 3.5
There certainly is no love lost between these two rivals, and this will mark a big game for both teams. Philadelphia will return home to face the Detroit Lions after this game and would love to be 5-1 heading in to its bye week, while the Steelers certainly cannot afford to fall to 1-3 in the tough AFC North division.
NFL Betting Preview: Philadelphia Eagles
After coming under fire for leading the NFL in turnovers through the first three weeks, it was much harder to criticize Michael Vick following a week-four win over the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants. Vick threw for 241 passing yards and a touchdown in the win with another 49 yards on the ground, but most importantly he didn’t turn the ball over once after giving it up eight times through three weeks. It certainly helped that the Eagles ran the ball 30 times with running back LeSean McCoy rushing for 123 yards at an average of 5.3 per snap, and the defense certainly held its own with an interception and only 17 points allowed.
NFL Betting Preview: Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers’ defense will want to do more than simply contain Vick. Instead, look for Pittsburgh to attack the Eagles’ starter in an effort to try and force him in to the same mistakes that cost Philadelphia in its week three loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The Steelers’ defense is ranked third against the pass and will get a huge boost in the pass rush from Harrison, while Polamalu remains a playmaking threat in the secondary. Pittsburgh could also have running back Rashard Mendenhall back on offense. The Steelers’ rushing attack ranks 31st in the NFL, and it would certainly help take some of the load off Ben Roethlsiberger and the passing game if they could move the ball on the ground a little more.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
Even without the spread the Eagles could have a chance to win this game on the money line, especially if they remain committed to the ground game on the offensive side of the ball. The Philadelphia defense is good enough to keep this one close even if the offense struggles early on, and while the Eagles may very well come up short in the game, look for them to at least cover the online sportsbook spread.
