Falcons Bears Betting – Falcons Soar To Victory In The Windy City
Most online betting players know that Atlanta has a strong offense, which is a major reason for their solid Super Bowl odds, but they’ll get tested right off the bat when they head to Chicago to take on the tough Bears. The Falcons will prove that they’re a force to be reckoned with against a team that went to the NFC championship game.

Why Bet On Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons have the potential to be the best offensive team in the NFL, and receiver Julio Jones showed that he may have been worth the five draft picks that Atlanta traded to Cleveland for the chance to take the rookie out of Alabama. Jones looked great during the preseason, which should open up the field for Roddy White, tight end Tony Gonzalez and running back Michael Turner. Quarterback Matt Ryan has an embarrassment of riches and has to take the next step into the elite category this year, although some would argue that he is already there. Defensively, the Falcons added end Ray Edwards and with John Abraham on the other side, Atlanta should be able to have a consistent pass rush, which will come in handy after they were slaughtered by Green Bay in the playoffs last year. Edwards, a former Minnesota Viking, may also have some insight on how to beat the Bears.
Atlanta has to show that they can also be explosive on the road, because we know what they can do in the confines of the Georgia Dome. But in this game, they’ll be away from home, outside on a field against a very tough defense in the Bears. This will be a good test for the Falcons, who have legitimate aspirations of reaching the Super Bowl.
Why Bet On Chicago Bears
The Bears look to have a strong running game with Matt Forte and Marion Barber, which will take some of the pressure off of quarterback Jay Cutler and a porous offensive line. Cutler still doesn’t have many weapons in the passing game and the Bears let their best option, tight end Greg Olsen, walk in the offseason, so they need Forte and Barber to have big seasons. The Bears did pick up Roy Williams to be their No.1 receiver….which is another reason why they need the running game to step up. The Bears will also have to lean on their defense, which is always going to be solid at the very least.
However, there are some questions on the defensive side of the ball as tackle Anthony Adams may miss this game after struggling through the preseason with a calf injury. More importantly, linebacker Lance Briggs isn’t happy with his contract again and has demanded a trade and while he has said that he’ll continue to play, you always have to wonder where a player’s head is at if they’re not content, whether it is due to money, playing time or family matters. Briggs has always been a consummate professional and playing well would boost his leverage, but once again, you have to be careful. Also, did the Bears really think that picking up Roy Williams would help their NFL betting odds? It could be a long year for Cutler under center.
How It Will Play Out
NFL betting odds have the Falcons as a 3-point favorite on the road, where they were 6-2 ATS in 2010, and they were also 10-4 ATS as a favorite. On the other hand, the Bears were 4-4 ATS at home, but 7-2 ATS as an underdog. The Bears are 5-1 SU and 4-1 ATS in their six meetings with the Falcons in Chicago, the last of which came in 2005, and three games went under the total.
It’s tough to go against the Bears at home, but we’re skeptical on their offense through the air. Unless they can establish a running game against the Falcons, Cutler and his crew will have a hard time moving the ball because the Falcons are a better defensive team than people give them credit for, and they’ll be eager to get back on the field after getting routed by Green Bay at home. The Falcons’ offense won’t light up Chicago, but they’ll do enough to give their team the edge. Wager on Atlanta in your sports betting picks.
