How To Bet On Buccaneers Redskins – Cousins Looks To Showcase Arm
In a pre-draft blockbuster trade, the Washington Redskins sent three first-round picks and a second round pick to the St. Louis Rams for the second-overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft. The Redskins mortgaged a wealth of picks to get their franchise quarterback in Robert Griffin III at No. 2, but while the future appears to be bright for the Heisman trophy winner, it’s the Redskins’ fourth-round pick that has looked the best at the quarterback position this sports betting preseason. Kirk Cousins has looked like an NFL starter through three exhibition games, and with the backups set to see a lot of action in the final preseason game, the Michigan State product will get another chance to showcase his skills versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Wednesday

NFL Betting Pick: Washington Redskins – 1.5
The Buccaneers already have their quarterback in Josh Freeman, who has been a bit erratic through three preseason games. The Tampa Bay offense will be built around a strong running game that features rookie running back Doug Martin and LaGarrette Blount, but it will need Freeman to make it happen when he is called on to move the ball through the air.
NFL Betting Preview: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The depth at quarterback simply isn’t there in Tampa Bay with Dan Orlovsky and Brett Ratliff behind Johnson, and it will be interesting to see how head coach Greg Schiano works the snaps for each of them this week. Schiano will run a ton this season, so we should see a ton of Moses Madu and Michael Smith behind Martin and Blount in this game. The defense will benefit from a healthy Adrian Clayborn and Gerald McCoy on the line this season, and the new safety tandem of Ronde Barber and rookie Mark Barron has the potential to be lights out.
NFL Betting Preview: Washington Redskins
Cousins’ play with the second and third team units has helped uncover some depth at the wide receiver position, with Aldrick Robinson and Dezmon Briscoe both looking very good in the preseason. Those two players could find themselves behind the top-three of Pierre Garcon, Santana Moss, and Josh Morgan, with another chance to prove what they can do this week. The Redskins are very deep at running back with Roy Helu, Tristan Davis, and Evan Royster all competing for touches behind Tim Hightower. The 3-4 defense is comprised mostly of veterans and is stacked in the secondary, including Josh Wilson, DeAngelo Hall, Cedric Griffin, and Kevin Barnes at the cornerback spot.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
While this game will be played mostly be the second and third team units, Cousins has looked very good in the preseason and will look to make the most of his final opportunity at extended game action. The Redskins have more depth on both sides of the ball than they have had in previous seasons, and should be able to cover the online sportsbook spread in their final preseason tuneup.
