How To Bet On Cowboys Raiders – America's Team Off To Good Start
The Dallas Cowboys and Oakland Raiders are two of the most storied franchises in the NFL. For that reason, it makes sense that these teams will meet in a nationally televised game on Monday night to open their preseason schedule. Unfortunately for sports betting fans from both sides a storied history doesn’t mean anything in terms of trying to win now, and neither team has enjoyed much success of late. The Raiders haven’t been to the Super Bowl since getting blown away by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl XXXVII, and it doesn’t appear as though that will change. It isn’t like Dallas fans have it any better though, with just one playoff win over that same span.

NFL Betting Line: Oakland Raiders – 1.5
While most of the responsibility for the Cowboys’ playoff struggles has been put on the shoulders of Tony Romo, the numbers show that he has consistently been one of the league’s better quarterbacks over the last three years. Oakland went all in to acquire Carson Palmer thinking he could be for the Raiders what Romo has been in Dallas, and after mixed results in his first year with the club there will be a lot more pressure to win.
NFL Betting Preview: Dallas Cowboys
The fact that Romo finished with the fourth-best quarterback rating in the NFL last season despite injuries that included cracked ribs, a punctured lung, and a bruised throwing hand is pretty impressive. Although he likely won’t take many snaps in this one, look for him to be in perfect command of the offense when he is on the field. Backup Kyle Orton should get the majority of playing time after signing a deal in the offseason to play in Dallas, and should come out with a little more swagger after being bumped out of the way by Tim Tebow in Denver last season. The Cowboys brought in fullback Lawrence Vickers to block for running backs DeMarco Murray and Felix Jones, and he will be looking to hit anything that moves. First round draft pick Morris Claiborne and free agent addition Brandon Carr give Dallas two new starters at corner, and it will be interesting to see how coordinator Rob Ryan’s defense looks in year two.
NFL Betting Preview: Oakland Raiders
Palmer might play a couple of series’ as well before giving way to another USC product in Matt Leinart, who will serve ahead of Terrelle Pryor as the No. 2 guy this season. The Raiders didn’t have their first two picks in this year’s draft, but they did land a valuable find in the third round with guard Tony Bergstrom, who is expected to push for a starting job immediately. Salary constraints really handicapped Oakland in the offseason, and it was forced to let go of Michael Bush, Kamerion Wimbley, Chris Johnson, and Stanford Routt. This will be our first real chance to see how the Raiders’ depth players look, and while there is some talent there this one could get ugly once the starters are off the field.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
While Oakland is hoping to find a diamond in the rough among its depth players, the Cowboys will enter the preseason hungry and looking to get in the win column right away. Dallas has quality players at every level throughout its roster, and will do whatever it takes to get a big online football betting win to open the exhibition slate on Monday night football.
