How To Bet On Falcons Chargers – Falcons Run Record to 3-0
Atlanta Falcons @ San Diego Chargers – Sunday September 23, 2012 4:05PM EST
The betting websites are finding all kinds of new reasons to like the NFC, and the Atlanta Falcons are just one of the newest reasons experts are using. The NFC seems to be home to the best teams in football, and the Falcons are making a case to become a Super Bowl contender. But the problem that the Falcons is facing is that Atlanta has not really beaten a quality opponent yet. The Chiefs are struggling and the Denver Broncos are still trying to get all of its new players acclimated to the Denver way of doing things. The San Diego Chargers pose a challenge that will really tell the Falcons how far it has come in this 2012 season.
The San Diego Chargers used to be the default pick to win the AFC West and go deep in the playoffs. But the football betting experts have decided that San Diego is going to have to earn its way back into the betting world’s good graces after three consecutive terrible seasons. San Diego is off to an impressive 2-0 start, but there are holes in the team’s defensive game that could allow it to be victimized by an offensive team like the Falcons. The Chargers definitely look like an improved team over last season. But San Diego may not quite be to the point where it is ready to compete with teams like Atlanta just yet.
The one impressive thing about the Atlanta win over Denver, aside from picking Peyton Manning off three times in the first quarter, was the way in which the Atlanta passing game was able to get past a very talented Denver secondary. As was mentioned, the online sportsbook experts are giving Denver some slack because many of the key players on the team are new acquisitions. But when you look at the way in which Atlanta was able to mix up the run and the pass, and then throw the ball past the Denver secondary, you get an idea of just how dangerous this Atlanta offense could be. This could be the breakout year that quarterback Matt Ryan has been waiting for, and it could be the breakout year for several other Falcons’ offensive players as well.
San Diego Chargers
The Chargers opened the season against the Oakland Raiders and then played the Tennessee Titans in week two. It is easy to see why the betting experts are not completely sold on the Chargers just yet. Both the Raiders and the Titans are struggling on offense and the Raiders offer very little in the way of defensive resistance. This game against Atlanta will be a chance to see where San Diego’s defense is in its development, but the Chargers may not like the results it gets.
The Bottom Line
San Diego has a talented football team that could very well make the playoffs this year. But the Chargers have yet to play a team like the Falcons this season, and week three will be a rude wake up call for the entire Chargers’ team.Pick: Atlanta Falcons
