How To Bet On Saints Buccaneers – The Tide is Turning in the NFC South
New Orleans Saints @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Sunday October 21, 2012 1:00PM
With the demise of the New Orleans Saints and the slow rise of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the NFL betting experts have noticed that the NFC South is a completely different division than everyone thought it would be. Instead of the Atlanta Falcons battling with the Saints for division supremacy, the Falcons are running away with the division while the Saints are pretty much two losses away from being completely eliminated from playoff contention. The Buccaneers were looking to be an improved team in 2012, but the Bucs were still expected to be battling with the Panthers for last place in the NFC South. Now it looks like Tampa may be heading towards a wild card spot while Carolina is not going to fulfill its playoff promise.
Many of the sports betting experts are calling this week seven game against the Buccaneers a “must win” game for the Saints. If the Saints lose this game, then New Orleans will drop to 1-5 and effectively lose any chance of grabbing an NFC wild card spot. While Drew Brees and the New Orleans offense looked good in its week five win over the Chargers, the New Orleans defense still had problems shutting down the San Diego passing game and that will be a huge issue in this game against a Tampa Bay team that showing signs of having an extremely potent passing attack.
New Orleans Saints
Sports fans can bet that the New Orleans Saints feel slightly better about going into its bye 1-4 instead of 0-5. However, there is no joy in New Orleans. The only person smiling in the Saints organization is suspended head coach Sean Payton because his team is showing that it cannot win without him. The first thing general manager Mickey Loomis should do when he gets off his suspension is to sign Payton to a long-term contract extension. For this game, the Saints just do not have the fortitude on defense to stop a good passing attack. Over the past two or three weeks, the Bucs have shown massive improvement in its ability to throw the ball.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Over the past three weeks, it has become extremely obvious that quarterback Josh Freeman and wide receiver Vincent Jackson are becoming much more comfortable with each other. The only thing that the Buccaneers are lacking for offensive consistency is a running game it can really rely on. The Tampa defense is also finding itself improving, especially against the run.
The Bottom Line
The Buccaneers have been improving along the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and that is something that will give the Saints problems all day long. Drew Brees will get his yards and probably extend his consecutive games with a touchdown pass streak by another game, but it will not be enough to take out the improving Bucs.
