Jets Bills Betting Predictions – Bills And Jets Reach A Finish Line Marked By Sadness
New York Jets @ Buffalo Bills – Sunday, December 30
Betting line: Buffalo -3.5
Why New York Will Win
When football betting gurus look at this contest, they're not going to think that the Jets have a chance based on their ability to hang in the playoff picture through week 14 despite all sorts of issues on offense. These same pigskin experts are going to stress the point that Buffalo is a team that has a magnetic attraction to failure. The Bills are headed nowhere under current retread coach Chan Gailey, who mystifyingly has a job in a football environment when so many other talented coaches exist.
The Bills have to jettison Gailey as soon as possible, but unless or until they do, they're not going to perform well on the field and will find it hard to get the right players in the right places at the right times. It's a widely accepted point of knowledge throughout the NFL community (except in Gailey's own mind) that Buffalo's electric running back, C.J. Spiller, is not getting anywhere near the amount of touches he needs or, for that matter, deserves.
Spiller's yards-per-carry average is one of the best in the league, but Gailey has kept Spiller buried behind Tashard Choice and Fred Jackson. The Bills are criminally undercoached, and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has been a complete and total bust this season. The defense, which was supposed to breathe fire, recently got torched by the Seattle Seahawks for 43 points (plus a pick-six that accounted for a 50-point score from Seattle). This organization is a mess, and so it stands to reason that for all of the Jets' problems, Buffalo's issues are more severe.
Why Buffalo Will Win
Various online sports betting legal outlets are going to give more favorable odds to Buffalo in this game. Why? The Jets are a smoldering wreck on offense, particularly because of their disastrously poor level of quarterbacking this season. You're aware of the larger soap opera that has enfolded Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow.
It's true that Tebow was injured for a period of time, but the Jets' playoff hopes were minimal at best in the middle of November, and yet head coach Rex Ryan stubbornly stuck with Sanchez instead of giving Tebow a legitimate chance to prove himself. Tebow is fed up with the Jets and a certainty to leave the Big Apple after this season, perhaps to the extent that he can create a new career for himself as a hybrid back, running back, or short-yardage situational specialist of some sort. Meanwhile, Greg McElroy – the team's third-string quarterback – is being given the ball in these late-season games. This is exactly the kind of quarterback – and the kind of situation – that can enable the sad-sack Bills to grab a home-field win.
Who Will Win
If there's any doubt about the winner of this game, one should lean to the Bills. Buffalo has all sorts of problems… but it doesn’t have the Jets' quarterbacking woes on its hands. Fitzpatrick is a below-average quarterback… but he's better than anyone the Jets have at the moment. Take Buffalo.
