3 Best NFL Underdogs To Bet On This Week
Now that we're three weeks into the NFL season we begin seeing which teams have what it takes to make the playoffs, and which teams clearly don't. The Green Bay Packers are a surprising 1-2 at this point, as are the Indianapolis Colts and and New Orleans Saints. Each of these three teams still expect to make a playoff run, but a Week 4 victory will be crucial for all as they are in desperate need of a victory to get them back in the hunt.
Green Bay Packers +1
The Packers are a slight underdog to the Chicago Bears this coming weekend, and although they haven't looked like themselves as of late, the Packers still have one of the best quarterbacks in the league to go along with a running back and receiving corps that is above league average. The Bears will be coming off a short week as they played Monday night against the New York Jets, and both big wide receivers Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall have been dealing with injuries as of late. The Packers are still looking for their first road victory of the season, and next Sunday vs. a division rival is the perfect time for them to collect one.
Buffalo Bills +3
Surprisingly enough the Buffalo Bills are 2-1 and leading the AFC East, yet they are still a 3-point dog to their Week 4 opponent, the Houston Texans. The Texans lost their first game of the season this past weekend, but they're a team without a true starting quarterback under center, and have a major question mark in Arian Foster as the running back was inactive against the New York Giants this past week. This means the Bills, who saw improvement from E.J. Manuel this offseason, have a realistic shot at going into Texas and coming out with their third victory of the season, half as many as they finished 2013 with. The Bills have struggled against the pass this season, but their run defense is among the best in the league, and the Texans have a relatively one-dimensional offense that relies heavily upon Foster.
Philadelphia Eagles +4.5
The Philadelphia Eagles are an undefeated 3-0 on the season, yet it's their Week 4 opponent, the San Francisco 49ers, who are favored by 4.5 points in their Week 4 meeting. The 49ers have been less than stellar through three weeks this season, while the Eagles have thrown for the second-most passing yards and have scored 30 points or more in each of their three contests. Nick Foles is proving to be the real deal under center in Philadelphia, and his 61% completion rate and six touchdowns make him one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the NFL this season. Combined with LeSean McCoy, who had a minimal role in their victory this past weekend, the Eagles have an offense that a stagnant 49ers defense will have trouble containing.
