NFL Betting: Packers Face A Big Challenge, Trying To Slow Down The Seahawks
After seeing how well the Seattle Seahawks played at home in their Super Bowl-winning season, it’s clear the Green Bay Packers have big test in front of them this Thursday night.
Green Bay Packers @ Seattle Seahawks – Thursday, September 4

Why Green Bay Will Win
This is a situation in which the casual sports betting observer might be inclined to say that Seattle is going to win big. However, Green Bay played so much of last season without a healthy Aaron Rodgers. The Packers didn’t even win as many as nine games, but there was a good reason for that. With Rodgers healthy right now, Green Bay’s passing attack should be back to normal. Rodgers did play in the final week of the 2013 season, and he also played in the subsequent wild card game against the San Francisco 49ers. However, Rodgers was not a fully recovered player. He was playing in pain. Now, he has a spring in his step again, and that’s why the Packers can expect to play well on offense against Seattle’s elite defense. Rodgers is a player who opens up so much with his arm and his legs. He’s as good a quarterback as Seattle’s going to face in the NFC this season. (The Seahawks face Peyton Manning and Denver in their interconference schedule this year.)
Another reason to pick Green Bay here is that Seattle, as good a team as it is, still faces some questions in the passing game. Golden Tate has left to go to Detroit. Percy Harvin could suffer a concussion at any time. He’s a fragile player. Russell Wilson is a burgeoning star, but he still has more to prove as a passer.
Why Seattle Will Win
When you look at these teams, you can acknowledge that Green Bay has the weapons with which to seriously threaten Seattle. However, if this game had been played at Lambeau Field, the Packers would have had a much better chance of winning. It’s so important that Seattle is getting this game at home. Arizona did beat the Seahawks in Seattle late last season, but Seattle was already in control of its fate for home-field advantage in the playoffs. The Seahawks do not lose meaningful games at home. They’re 17-1 at home in regular season and playoff games at home over the past two seasons. Seattle’s defense feeds off its crowd so much, and opposing offenses have a hard time being coordinated and organized against the backdrop of a heavy din at CenturyLink Field. Seattle’s offense also feels more comfortable and energized at home. If you’re going to catch the Seahawks, you’re likely to get them on the road in the middle of the schedule, when they’re worn down. In week one, when this team is bursting with energy, the Seahawks are likely to fly around the field and play close to their best.
Who Will Win
The strength of the Seahawks at home is so hard to bet against. Green Bay is a really good team, but Seattle is the proven champion with a defense that can stop Aaron Rodgers.
