High Profile QB’s Square off as Bills Host Panthers
Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel impressed fans in his rookie debut last week passing for 150 yards and two scores. He kept the Bills in a close game with the New England Patriots, which is quite a feat for a rookie quarterback anywhere. The Panthers, like the Bills, were on the losing end of a close match-up last week, only theirs was against the Seattle Seahawks. The Panthers were also in the position to win the game late if it had not been for a DeAngelo Williams fumble. This week however one of these two teams will emerge with their first win of the season and the quarterbacks of the two teams will have a lot to do in deciding who comes away victorious.

What To Watch For From The Buffalo Bills
The Bills are coming in as the sports book decided underdog, but if they play how they did against the Patriots they have a very good shot at pulling the upset over the Panthers. Manuel will have to keep from turning the ball over again and if he the run game can actually produce the Bills should be in a good position late in the game. Last week C.J. Spiller disappointed with just 41 yards rushing against the Patriots, and he will likely have a tough time again running against the dynamic rookie defensive tackles the Panthers drafted earlier this year. Although Manuel didn’t make any big plays with his arm, he managed the game effectively and allowed the defense to keep it close, which is likely what will happen again this week against the Panthers.
What To Watch For From The Carolina Panthers
The Panthers’ offense was nearly shut-down by the Seahawks’ defense this past Sunday, but it was the fumbles that ultimately led them to losing that game. Williams wasn’t the only player to lose a fumble to the Seahawks as punt returner Josh Thomas lost a crucial fumble as well. Cam Newton was held in check by the Seahawks as he threw for just 125 yards and ran the ball for just 38 yards. If the Panthers are to be successful they will need Newton to take control of every game whether it is through the air or on the ground with his legs. Sports gamblers should expect him to be more successful against the Bills this week as they don’t have as good of a pass defense as the Seahawks.
Both of these teams had success on defense in Week 1, but considering neither team is known as being defensively strong it will be interesting to see in this game if they can keep up the defensive pressure. Manuel will likely struggle more than Newton considering he is playing in just his second NFL game and the Panthers have an improved defensive unit. The Bills also need to prove they have a solid run game again as Spiller was completely shut-down by the Patriots, which is just another reason as to why the Panthers are my sports betting pick.
