Raiders Chiefs Betting Predictions – Brady Quinn Takes Center Stage In Raiders-Chiefs Clash
The Kansas City Chiefs find themselves in manifestly dire straits as they prepare for this weekend's AFC West game against their most enduring rival, the Oakland Raiders.
Oakland Raiders @ Kansas City Chiefs – Sunday, October 28
NFL betting line: Kansas City -1
Why Oakland Will Win
The betting websites that are weighing their options in this game are going to be clear about one thing: This game is going to be a referendum not on the strengths of each team, but on the weaknesses of the opponent. One should pick Oakland not because of its own attributes, but because of the flaws and faults of the opposition.
Oakland's best chance to win lies in the fact that Kansas City – a team that's been a complete mess throughout this season, from day one – is pulling the plug on its offense. The Chiefs are basically admitting defeat right now because they've benched quarterback Matt Cassel in favor of Brady Quinn, a man who has done absolutely nothing of significance or consequence in his NFL career.
Cassel was supposed to be the guy who could turn the Chiefs into a consistent winner. He produced a very solid 2010 season as the Chiefs won the AFC West and hosted a playoff game, but he came down to earth in a subpar 2011 season and had been brutally ineffective in the first half of the 2012 campaign. Things have gotten so bad for Kansas City head coach Romeo Crennel that he felt he had to make the move to Quinn, a move that speaks of great desperation for a team that's 1-5 and going nowhere. The Chiefs are an organization that's swimming in chaos, polluted by a negative atmosphere that has been created by the tyrannical reign of general manager Scott Pioli, the former New England Patriots executive who has had a disastrous tenure in Kansas City.
Why Kansas City Will Win
When playing online poker, the fact of the matter is that on some occasions, your cards don't have to be great; they just need to be better than the ones held by other players. The Chiefs might have a lousy hand, but Oakland's hand could be worse.
The Raiders looked horrible in the first half of last week's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. They fell behind 17-3 to one of the four worst teams in the NFL (alongside the Chiefs, the Cleveland Browns, and the Buffalo Bills). Oakland came back and won only because Jacksonville made some significant mistakes in the second half. Raider quarterback Carson Palmer was dreadfully inefficient as a passer against the Jaguars, continuing to struggle in what is clearly the downside of a career that doesn't have a lot of gas left in the tank. The Chiefs, for all of their weaknesses, will be playing an opponent that is similarly impotent and dysfunctional.
Who Will Win
The Raiders are not playing well at the moment. They look like a below-average team with mediocre quarterbacking and a lack of particularly potent weapons. They should be able to handle Kansas City, however, because the Chiefs are a total train-wreck of a franchise at this point in time.
