Rams Chiefs Betting – Chiefs Use Running Game To Batter Rams
Sports betting players watched Kansas City and St. Louis punch above their weight in 2010, and the two up-and-comers are trying to keep that rolling as they head into the regular season. They’ll meet in Friday night in Kansas City in a good ol’ fashioned Missouri rivalry, and you can look for the Chiefs to utilize their powerful running game to control the Rams.

Why Bet On St. Louis Rams
The Rams head out on the road for the first time in this preseason after edging Tennessee 17-16, but it wasn’t a particularly strong performance as the Rams ran for just 44 yards and gave up 198 yards to the Titans, who didn’t have holdout running back Chris Johnson. But they did manage to get a touchdown catch out of Donnie Avery, who missed all of last year due to an ailing knee and he wasn’t looking confident in that knee during camp. Quarterback Sam Bradford will take all the weapons he can in the passing game, and Avery has the talent to be the Rams’ No.1 receiver. Defensively, safety Quintin Mikell led the team with six tackles and continues to show that he can seamlessly slot into his new unit, while linebacker James Laurinitis had five tackles and a sack. Look for these two to power the defense throughout the season.
Still, the Rams’ first-string players on both sides of the ball got severely outplayed and they’ll need a better effort in Kansas City, which is a very tough place to play. Bradford was 8-of-15 for 138 yards, a touchdown and a pick and he was all over the place. The linemen allowed three sacks and couldn’t open up any holes for the running backs and defensively, St. Louis couldn’t stop the Titans on the ground, and that run defense will really be tested against the Chiefs, who led the NFL in rushing last season.
Why Bet On Kansas City Chiefs
At least the Chiefs got on the scoreboard in a 31-13 loss in Baltimore after they were blanked by Tampa Bay in their first game, but the game was much closer than the score indicated as the lower-string players gave up 21 points in the fourth quarter, which surely cost a few players a job in the league. Matt Cassel, Tyler Palko and rookie Ricky Stanzi combined to go 20-of-39 for 194 yards, a touchdown and a pick, and they should see more of the playbook this week. The Chiefs were also trying to get touches for multi-purpose threat Dexter McCluster, who can line up out wide or in the backfield and even though coach Todd Haley said that he’ll primarily be a running back in 2011, McCluster’s open-field ability allows the Chiefs to move him around.
This game will be a good test for the Chiefs as the Rams have a young offense that can move the ball, and their first-string defense has played well in the preseason.
The biggest problem for Kansas City’s NFL betting odds could come off the field; it was reported that rookie receiver Jonathan Baldwin got into a fight with veteran back Thomas Jones through the week, and Kansas City took a big chance on Baldwin, who didn’t have a good reputation in college. The Chiefs need to get everyone on the same page as they are trying to keep their momentum going after last season’s success, and they aren’t a surprise story anymore; teams are waiting to play them.
How It Will Play Out
The Rams are 2.5-point NFL betting favorites on the road, but they have struggled against the Chiefs in the regular season, losing their last five meetings both SU and ATS, and three of the games went in over the posted total. Even though it’s not a regular-season game, it will be intense as the starters will be on the field for most of the game, and the lower-string players realize they don’t have much time left to fight for a roster spot.
Kansas City has yet to really put their foot on the gas in the preseason, and they’ll raise their game on both sides of the ball to claim a win on Friday night. St. Louis has had trouble stopping the run, and that could mean a field day for Jamaal Charles, Jones and the rest of the Kansas City backs.
