Rams Packers Betting – Packers Dismantle Shorthanded Rams
Some online betting players thought that St. Louis would be the breakout team of this season, but they’ve been destroyed by injuries on both sides of the ball, and you also have to wonder if they were as good as many thought they were. They’ll head into Green Bay to face the defending Super Bowl champions, who are rolling right now, and the Packers will show no mercy against the reeling Rams.

Why Bet On St. Louis Rams (0-4 SU, 0-4 ATS)
The Rams battled back from a 17-0 deficit in the fourth quarter, but they came up just short in a 17-10 loss at home to Washington two weeks ago, and there weren’t many positive things to say about this game for St. Louis other than they lost by seven instead of 17. They gained just 172 yards on offense, Sam Bradford had another pedestrian game (20-of-43 for 164 yards and a touchdown) and because of the large deficit, the Rams had to go away from Steven Jackson, who ended up with 45 yards on 17 carries, but he did catch a 15-yard score from Bradford. The defense did its best to hold on, picking off Rex Grossman twice, but they were also gouged for 196 yards on the ground.
It’s not looking promising for the Rams this week either, as they have to face the league’s No.4-ranked offense without their top three corners, who are all out with injuries. If it wasn’t for a fierce pass rush that is ranked second in the NFL in sacks, it would be even worse for the Rams, who are 27th in the NFL defensively. The receiving corps are depleted, and the offensive line is a mess for a unit that is 31st. The Rams need a lot of things to go right for them, especially on the road at Lambeau Field where the Packers are so good. At least the Rams are coming off a bye, so they had an extra week to prepare, but they may need even more time.
Why Bet On Green Bay Packers (5-0 SU, 4-1 ATS)
NFL betting players should try to answer this question: is Aaron Rodgers the best quarterback in the league? The way he is playing right now, only New England’s Tom Brady is also in the discussion and Rodgers had another brilliant game in a 25-14 win in Atlanta. Rodgers was 26-of-39 for 396 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Packers battled back from a 14-0 deficit, and he now leads the league in passer rating. James Jones was this week’s favored target for Rodgers, who takes advantage of all the weapons at his disposal. But perhaps more impressively, the defense locked it down after giving up two early touchdowns, forcing a pair of picks out of Matt Ryan and they really shut down Michael Turner and the Atlanta running game. The Packers are now 21st in the league on defense and getting better with every game; once they get into midseason form, Green Bay is going to be scary.
The defense did give the Falcons a pair of first downs due to penalties, so they’ll have to work on that throughout the week. Left tackle Chad Clifton (hamstring) will be out for a while, but the Packers are getting Bryan Bulaga back, so that softens the blow of losing him a little. The Falcons sacked Rodgers four times and the line was also an issue last season, so Green Bay will have to protect their all-world quarterback better. The ground game also failed to get going as the Packers averaged 2.9 yards per carry, but Rodgers was on fire, so that didn’t matter. Green Bay is 22nd on the ground, but it’s difficult to maintain a balance when your quarterback is lighting up the league like Rodgers is.
How It Will Play Out
Green Bay is a massive 15-point favorite at home against the Rams, who have split four trips to Green Bay since 1995 (and four since they moved the franchise from Los Angeles to St. Louis), with three of those games going under the posted total. Green Bay is 9-1 SU and 6-4 ATS in their last 10 games as a favorite of eight points or more, while St. Louis is 1-9 SU as an underdog of eight points or more, but a respectable 6-4 ATS.
If the Rams were at full strength, they would cover this spread with no issues (although the NFL betting line likely wouldn’t have them as a 15-point underdog). But St. Louis has been decimated by injuries, which adds to a team that may have been overestimated in the talent department, and they’re playing the Super Bowl champions on the road. Green Bay’s win over Atlanta was their most complete of the season, and it’s not going to end well for St. Louis. Take Green Bay to cover this huge sports betting spread.
