Ravens Broncos Betting Tips – Ravens Try to Keep Ray Lewis’ Career Going
Baltimore Ravens @ Denver Broncos – Saturday January 12, 2013 4:30PM EST
The NFL betting experts could not ignore the Denver Broncos when the season ended. Thanks to an 11-game winning streak, the Broncos won the AFC West and finished as the first seed in the AFC. It was an amazing feat, but it is not so far out of character if you think back to what the Broncos team was before Peyton Manning arrived. This is the same Denver team that had a defense strong enough to carry Tim Tebow to the playoffs. It is a Broncos’ squad that has a placekicker who made two 59-yard field goals in one game just so Tim Tebow could look like a hero. Now that the Broncos have a real quarterback in place, the team’s success should not be a surprise.
The Baltimore Ravens had to hold on tight against the Indianapolis Colts in the early stages of its AFC wild card game against the upstart young Colts. Many of the betting sites had picked the Colts to win the game, but Baltimore came away with a convincing 24-9 win and a ticket to play Denver in the divisional round. The Ravens go to Denver with only a small portion of the confidence and ability that the team had when the season started. This is not the same Baltimore team that was considered a Super Bowl favorite during the preseason. Quarterback Joe Flacco does not look sharp and the Baltimore defense is showing its weaknesses.
Why the Broncos Will Win
The sports betting experts were all wondering when Peyton Manning would feel like he was back into the groove of being an NFL quarterback. As far as anyone can tell, Manning started to feel it about 11 weeks ago. The running game got a boost when Knowshon Moreno suddenly started playing up to his potential and avoided any serious injuries. This is a completely healthy Denver team that is suiting up to take on a slightly injured Baltimore team. Even if both teams were healthy, this game wouldn’t be fair. The Broncos is just too much for Baltimore to handle.
Why the Ravens Will Win
Ray Lewis and his little stadium entrance dance have danced their last steps, unless the Ravens can get to the Super Bowl. At this point, the Denver Broncos stand between the Ravens and the Super Bowl. If Baltimore is going to get past Denver, then the Ravens is going to need to take the passing game away from Peyton Manning and establish its own running game with running back Ray Rice. It can be done. It is just a matter of whether or not Baltimore can sustain success once it gets its game rolling.
The Bottom Line
The Baltimore offense is too inconsistent to be able to mount a sustained attack against the Denver defense. The Ravens’ defense is entirely too injured to take away all of Peyton Manning’s weapons.
Pick: Denver Broncos
