Saints Panthers Betting – Super Bowl Champions Look To Build On Huge Win Versus Panthers
After losing three of five to fall to 4-3 on the season, the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints rebounded with a big 20-10 home win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday to pull within one game of the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers for first place in the NFC South. This week, the Saints look to build on that win, and establish some consistency in a divisional showdown at Bank of America Stadium.
- NFL Betting: New Orleans Saints @ Carolina Panthers
- When: Sunday November 7, 2010
- Where: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC
- Online Sports Betting: Saints – 6.5
New Orleans will take on the Carolina Panthers, who after a 20-10 loss to the St. Louis Rams are 1-6 and in the NFC South-basement. Little has gone right for the Panthers since a season-opening 31-18 loss to the New York Giants sparked a five-game losing streak, which ended with their only win of the season two weeks ago at home to the San Francisco 49ers.
Why To Bet On The Saints?
The football betting odds once again favor the Saints, as they look to string together consecutive wins for the first time since weeks one and two. Quarterback Drew Brees showed why his team clinched so many victories en route to the Super Bowl last season in the second half of the win over the Steelers, connecting on 20 of 22 passes and throwing two fourth-quarter touchdowns to help slay mighty Pittsburgh. Brees has now completed 71 passes over his past two games, the most in any two-game span throughout his career. With the offense hitting their stride, and a defense that has held its opponents to under 300 yards of total offense in five straight weeks, New Orleans should begin to round in to Super Bowl form against the division’s weakest team.
Why To Bet On The Panthers?
With their only betting win of the season coming against the lowly 49ers, it’s hard to find a reason to put money down on Carolina no matter who they play. It doesn’t make it any easier when they are going against the reigning champions. The Panthers have gone back to Matt Moore at quarterback, but it hasn’t helped a struggling offense, as illustrated by his 194 yards and three interceptions in the loss to St. Louis. Steve Smith caught nearly half of those yards, but will be easy for the Saints’ defense to stack towards without a complimentary threat. Once the premier rushing attack in the league, the Carolina running game has stalled, and so to has its win total. It seems as though teams come to play in divisional games, and given the Saints’ inconsistencies and their loss to the Cleveland Browns, there is a chance the Panthers could get their second win of the year, or at least cover.
How The Game Will Play Out
It’s hard to find a reason to bet on the Panthers, and when that is the case, it’s usually just a better idea to go with the team they’re playing. The Saints have been desperate to find consistency, and will finally get it with a big win over Carolina this Sunday.
