Saints vs Redskins Betting Odds - Saints show no mercy against banged-up Redskins

NFL Odds: Pick Saints -9.5

NFL linesNew Orleans cemented themselves as a solid online betting pick for the Super Bowl by routing one of the AFC’s best last week, but now they’re being set up for a trap game as they head to Washington to face the lowly Redskins, who are injured on both sides of the ball. Led by Drew Brees and one of the most explosive offenses we’ve seen in recent years, the Saints won’t take their foot off the gas to continue their mission of 16-0 alive.

Saints vs Redskins betting Odds: Saints -9.5 (Total: 47)
WHAT: NFL betting odds
WHEN: Sunday, December 6, 1:00 PM ET
WHERE: FedEx Field, Landover, MD
KEY STAT: New Orleans is 4-1 ATS on the road, Washington is 1-4 ATS at home

Saints vs Redskins betting odds maker breakdown: The Storyline
Any questions about the Saints’ (11-0) legitimacy were answered in a 38-17 demolition of New England on Monday night in New Orleans, but now they have to be careful about a letdown. The Redskins (3-8) fell 27-24 at Philadelphia, and they’ve got injury problems on top of everything else that has happened in the nation’s capital.

Betting Edge: Saints

Saints vs Redskins betting odds maker breakdown: Offense
Drew Brees played as perfect as any quarterback could play against the Patriots, going 18-of-23 for 371 yards and five touchdowns for the Saints’ No.1-ranked offense. But they’re not just a passing team as New Orleans is fifth in the league on the ground, with the double-edged sword of Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell, and remember, Reggie Bush is injured.

The Redskins are 25th in the NFL in offense, but they had a decent game against Philadelphia, converting three of their four red-zone opportunities. Tight end Chris Cooley, and running backs Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts are all injured, which kills an already-depleted team.

Betting Edge: Saints

Saints vs Redskins betting odds maker breakdown: Defense
The reason for the Saints’ improved NFL betting odds in your online sportsbook is their defense, which is now holding up their end of the bargain. They harassed Tom Brady and the New England offense all night, picking off Brady twice for two of three Patriot turnovers. However, they’re still a bit banged up in the secondary, particularly at the corners.

The Washington defense is seventh in the league, including second against the pass. But the Eagles went deep on them a few times, and they have to be more disciplined in coverage against the Saints. Tackle Albert Haynesworth has missed the last two games, which hurts a run defense which is 25th in the league.

Betting Edge: Redskins

Saints vs Redskins betting odds maker breakdown: Notable Injuries
The Saints are ailing as corners Tracy Porter (knee) and Randall Gay (hamstring), along with receiver Lance Moore (ankle) are likely out. Corner Jabari Greer (groin), linebacker Jonathan Vilma (knee) and tight end Jeremy Shockey (knee) lead a long list of players who were limited in practice.

Corner DeAngelo Hall (knee), along with Portis (concussion) and Betts (knee) are out. Haynesworth (ankle) is questionable to start for the first time in three games.

Betting Edge: Redskins

Saints vs Redskins betting odds for total: 47
The Saints are the highest scoring team in the league by almost six points a game over Minnesota, while the Redskins are 10th in points allowed. New Orleans hasn’t gone over the posted total in four games, while the Redskins have gone over in four of their last five.

Pick: OVER 47

Saints vs Redskins betting breakdown: Outlook and Pick
The Redskins have won three of their last five against the Saints, including two straight, and this is the ultimate trap game for New Orleans. However, the Saints are focused every week and they should cover in this one. The Saints are 4-1 ATS away from home, while the Redskins are 1-4 ATS at home, and Washington’s injuries are too much to handle the Saints.
