Seahawks Set To Assume Underdog Role At San Francisco This Sunday
The Seattle Seahawks are coming off a blowout win over the New Orleans Saints in a game that many had dubbed a potential NFC Championship game preview. That still isn’t enough to make them the online sports betting favorites for their next match up. The Seahawks will make the short California trip to take on the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday evening, where they will play in a stadium they haven’t had any success in of late. Seattle has been outscored 109-54 during a four-game losing streak at Candlestick Park, and will look to snap that skid with the chance to clinch the division this weekend.
Seattle Seahawks @ San Francisco 49ers
Sunday December 8, 2013 – 4:25 PM ET
Candlestick Park, San Francisco, California
NFL Sports Betting Line: San Francisco – 2.5
The 49ers are still three games back of the Seahawks for top spot in the NFC West, but this game represents much more than what it counts for in the standings. San Francisco has been dominated in each of the last two meetings between these teams at CenturyLink Field, and will try to answer at home knowing a potential playoff match up looms.
NFL Betting Preview: Seattle Seahawks
Seattle’s win over the Saints all but ensured the road to the Super Bowl will have to go through CenturyLink Field, but don’t expect them to let off the gas the rest of the way. The Seahawks are undefeated at home since Russell Wilson was drafted, but he has never won at Candlestick Park and the team’s lone loss this season came at Indianapolis. The Seattle defense looked dominant in the first meeting of the year, holding San Francisco to just 207 yards and three points, but it will be a much tougher match up on the road without the 12th man. Marshawn Lynch had three touchdowns in that game, and should get a ton of touches again this time around.
NFL Betting Preview: San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers were completely outplayed on both sides of the ball in that initial match up with the Seahawks, as Colin Kaepernick was held to 127 passing yards with three interceptions, while the defense gave up just under 300 total yards of offense. Kaepernick has made progress this season and understands that he will need to use both his arm and legs this week, with the chance to answer at home without the noise he dealt with at Seattle. Turnovers will be the key once again after San Francisco turned the ball over five times against the Seahawks back in September, and nobody will be surprised if Frank Gore gets a hefty workload again this time around.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
The 49ers will respond with a much better start this time around as they don’t have to deal with the 12th man and a Seattle team that has been dominant at home. However, even if San Francisco plays a much better game they will be in tough to beat the Seahawks, especially given the way that both Wilson and the defense are playing. Seattle had little trouble with a talented New Orleans’ team a week ago, and they should be just as prepared to clash with the 49ers in a game that should be closer but still end with a Seahawks’ online betting win.
NFL Betting Pick: Seattle Seahawks + 2.5
