Seahawks Falcons Betting Tips – Falcons Look To Exorcise Playoff Demons Versus Seahawks Sunday
The Atlanta Falcons took the first step on what they hope will be their road to the Super Bowl when they clinched the top seed in the NFC. Next up for Atlanta is a date with the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Divisional round this Sunday afternoon. The Falcons have been to the postseason before under head coach Mike Smith, but have lost in each of their three-playoff games. The last time Atlanta won a playoff game was in 2004 against the St. Louis Rams, but they have had some success against the Seahawks over the past few sports betting seasons.

NFL Betting Line: Atlanta – 2.5
The Falcons have won their last three games against Seattle, including a 30-28 victory at Qwest Field last season. Each of the Seahawks’ five losses this season came away from home, and Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan has thrived at home with a 33-6 career record.
NFL Betting Preview: Seattle Seahawks
Home field advantage was expected to play a significant role in Seattle’s NFC Wild Card game against the Washington Redskins, but an injury to RGIII allowed the Seahawks to steamroll their way throughout the nation’s capital and move to within one win of the NFC Championship game. Rookie quarterback Russell Wilson extended what has been an exceptional debut season with 187 passing yards and a touchdown, as well as 67 rushing yards against the Redskins, and will likely be expected to bring even more to the table in this week’s game. Running back Marshawn Lynch rushed for 132 yards and a score in last week’s game, and will be among the keys to keeping the pressure off Wilson and helping him operate. The Seahawks allowed Washington to score two touchdowns in the opening frame, but shut them down the remainder of the way. Seattle ranked in the top-10 against both the run and pass this season, and need to play to their potential.
NFL Betting Preview: Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons’ sixth-ranked pass offense will certainly test the Seahawks through the air after Matt Ryan threw for 4,719 yards and 32 touchdowns during the regular season, and it will help that he will have a full compliment of weapons. Julio Jones, Roddy White, and tight end Tony Gonzalez are all healthy after suffering some bumps and bruises during the regular season, and Atlanta will look to stretch the field to pick apart the Seattle defense. There is a concern about the Falcons’ ability to move the ball on the ground after Michael Turner and Jazquizz Rodgers led an offense that ranked just 29th in the NFL in total rushing yards. The Atlanta defense finished in the bottom-third of the NFL against both the run and pass, but they have stepped up in clutch situations this online sportsbook season.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
The Falcons’ success under Smith has been limited to the regular season so far, but this Atlanta team certainly has the potential to make noise in the playoffs. Seattle is coming off an important win over the Redskins but will have to deal with fatigue and injuries, with the absence of defensive end Chris Clemons a particular concern. Ryan and the offense have made progress all year, and if the Falcons’ defense can limit what Wilson and the Seahawks can do on offense, they should be able to earn their first win under Smith.
