When the Seattle Seahawks travel to face the Washington Redskins this NFC Wild Card Round weekend, it will be a battle between the top two NFC rookie quarterbacks this sports betting season. Robert Griffin III threw for 3,200 yards and 20 touchdowns while rushing for 815 more yards and seven scores, leading the Redskins to the NFC East division title and home field advantage for this contest. While there may not have been as much hype around Seahawks’ rookie passer Russell Wilson, he certainly held his own, throwing for 3,118 yards and 26 touchdowns, while registering 489 more on the ground as well as four scores. RGIII and Wilson will get a ton of attention heading in to this contest, and their performances will have a huge impact on which team wins this game.

NFL Betting Line: Seattle – 2.5
While RGIII finished the year with the better numbers, Seattle is still favored on the road with the tougher defense and playoff experience. The Seahawks finished the regular season with five-straight wins, and appear to be peaking just in time for the playoffs.
NFL Betting Preview: Seattle Seahawks
The overall improvement down the stretch included the play of Wilson, who gave opponents more of a taste of what he can do with his legs including three rushing touchdowns in a blowout win over the Buffalo Bills. Wilson will have Marshawn Lynch to rely on as well after he averaged five yards per carry while rushing for 1,590 yards and 11 touchdowns for the league’s third-ranked ground game, and balance will be key. The Seahawks’ defense was one of the best in the NFL finishing in the top-10 against both the run and pass, and will need another big performance to slow down RGIII.
NFL Betting Preview: Washington Redskins
While Griffin III is definitely the Redskins’ most dangerous offensive weapon, he isn’t the only one Seattle needs to worry about. Fellow rookie, running back Alfred Morris ran for 1,613 yards and 13 touchdowns including 200 yards and three scores in last week’s win over the Cowboys, and he and RGIII combined for over 2,400 yards for the league’s top-ranked rushing attack. The Washington defense didn’t put up numbers even close to the Seahawks, including finishing 30th in the NFL against the pass. The Redskins did come up with turnovers at key points in big games though, and will need to make plays in order to slow down Wilson and Lynch on defense.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
As good as Seattle was down the stretch, the Redskins were even better with seven-straight wins. Washington scored at least 27 points in six of those seven wins and while their defense isn’t as strong as the Seahawks, RGIII and Morris is a lethal tandem that should be able to score enough points to escape with a close online betting win at home.
