Steelers Browns Betting Tips – Steelers Will Try To Get By With Third-String Quarterback
The Pittsburgh Steelers might be down to their third-string quarterback as they prepare to face the Cleveland Browns, but they know that their defense can get the job done in this contest.

Why Pittsburgh Will Win
The betting websites that are assessing this game will provide two particularly good reasons to take Pittsburgh. First of all, the Steelers are taking on one of the worst teams in the NFL. The Cleveland Browns gained a 13-0 lead on the Dallas Cowboys, squandered that lead, and then found a way to lose to the Cowboys this past Sunday in overtime. Cleveland took a 20-17 advantage in the final 75 seconds and had appeared to have forged the upper hand, but the Browns committed multiple penalties on Dallas' last-ditch drive, including an awful pass interference penalty (an obvious one, not a disputed one) that gave Dallas a 35-yard gain into chip-shot field goal range.
The Browns conceded a tying field goal, and after stopping Dallas' first drive in overtime, they melted down on offense, going three-and-out before giving the Cowboys a very short field that Dallas turned into a field goal. Cleveland had Dallas on the ropes at so many different points in time, but ultimately lost. This is what bad teams do, and therefore the Browns can't be seen as better than the Steelers.
The second really good reason to take Pittsburgh is that the Steelers' defense has gotten used to playing under adverse circumstances. Two weeks ago, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was injured on Monday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs. No problem – Pittsburgh's defense stayed in the ring and held off the Chiefs in overtime, producing the interception that led to a game-winning field goal.
The following week, the Steelers knew that Roethlisberger would not be playing, and they watched second-string quarterback Byron Leftwich get injured against the Baltimore Ravens. Knowing this, Pittsburgh's defense faced a lot of in-game pressure. Nevertheless, the Steelers allowed only 13 points to Baltimore in a terrific effort. Against the lowly Browns, Pittsburgh has a great chance to allow only six or seven or nine or ten points, a really low number. If the Steelers can score just 13 points, that could be enough for them.
Why Cleveland Will Win
When playing online poker, you have to take chances, and the Steelers are not in a position to do that. A graybeard with few NFL accomplishments, 37-year-old third-string quarterback Charlie Batch, is going to lead the Steelers onto the field in this game after second-stringer Byron Leftwich got injured this past Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. Very simply, the presence of a third-string quarterback is going to leave Pittsburgh shorthanded on the road in an emotionally-charged division game. As long as Cleveland doesn't commit more than two turnovers, it should be able to stay with Pittsburgh and make enough plays to win.
Who Will Win
This looks like a 13-10 or 9-6 kind of game, either way. Ultimately, though, trust the veteran Steelers to find a way to prevail against the sad-sack Browns, one of the least successful franchises in the modern NFL.
