Tips For Betting On Cardinals Chiefs – Cardinals Set For Second Preseason Game
Four days after the Arizona Cardinals opened their 2012 preseason schedule in the Hall of Fame game against the New Orleans Saints, head coach Ken Whisenhunt will get another chance to evaluate his roster with a second preseason game at the Kansas City Chiefs. Unlike in the Hall of Fame game, there will be a level of familiarity between these clubs after spending a couple of days together in training camp practices. The Chiefs open as the football betting favorites for this game, but it could be the Cardinals that come out with a little more urgency in their second preseason game in five days.

NFL Betting Line: Kansas City Chiefs – 1
Arizona’s quarterback situation isn’t any clearer after one preseason game, with Kevin Kolb suffering a thigh contusion in practice last week and struggling to even practice. A lot has been made about John Skelton and even Richard Bartel as possible starters ahead of Kolb, and while there is still four weeks for that scenario to play out, expect whoever gets time under center to make the most of his snaps against Kansas City.
NFL Betting Preview: Arizona Cardinals
The fact that the Cardinals have not determined their No. 1 quarterback at this point in the preseason should be a concern for the long term, but could actually be beneficial for the level of compete in exhibition play. Arizona won seven of its last nine games in 2012, and improved its depth both through free agency and the draft with a strong offseason. That includes at wide receiver where rookie first round pick Michael Floyd joins Larry Fitzgerald and Early Doucet as a very strong group, while running back Ryan Williams returns from injury behind Beanie Wells and LaRod Stephens-Howling. While the Cardinals have a lot of money invested in Kolb, both Skelton and Bartel have impressed the staff in camp and the starting job will come down to whichever of the three gives them the best chance to win.
NFL Betting Preview: Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs have no such quarterback controversy with Brady Quinn signed to back up Matt Cassel, and while Kansas City is another team expected to take a step forward and compete for a playoff spot this season, it’s hard to imagine them playing with a high level of intensity in their preseason opener. Health will be the key with running back Jamaal Charles returning from injury as well as both Dexter McCluster and Peyton Hillis getting touches in what seems like a very strong position. The Chiefs added two offensive lineman in the first three rounds of the draft and both could start from day one.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
While the extra preseason game is somewhat of a burden for any team, the Cardinals will harness the opportunity with the chance to really evaluate their quarterback situation and determine the starter by the third week of exhibition betting. There are a lot fewer question marks in Kansas City where the Chiefs likely won’t have the same urgency for their preseason opener, leaving the door open for Arizona to dip in to the win column.NFL Betting Pick: Arizona Cardinals
