Tips For Betting On Dolphins 49ers – 49ers Sticking With Kaepernick For Date With Dolphins Sunday
Sophomore quarterback Colin Kaepernick couldn’t get the job done in a 17-14 loss to the St. Louis Rams. Despite his struggles in the loss, which included an errant pitchout that was returned by Rams’ rookie cornerback Janoris Jenkins for St. Louis’ lone touchdown in the contest, 49ers’ head coach Jim Harbaugh is going back to the 25-year old when San Francisco hosts the Miami Dolphins this Sunday. The 49ers’ quarterback situation has been among the most scrutinized sports betting topics in the NFL this season, with veteran Alex Smith watching from the sideline despite a top-five quarterback rating. Smith is healthy and ready to play after passing concussion tests, but Harbaugh is sticking with Kaepernick.

NFL Betting Line: San Francisco 49ers – 10
This isn’t the first time that Smith has been forced to take a back seat under Harbaugh, after the organization courted Peyton Manning this past offseason. However, attempting to sign a four-time MVP and future Hall of Fame quarterback is understandable compared to a young passer that has thrown only 72-career completions.
NFL Betting Preview: Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins have no such debate at the quarterback position as they continue to push forward with rookie Ryan Tannehill, who has clearly made progress in his first season as an NFL starter. Tannehill struggled somewhat in a 23-14 loss to the New England Patriots last week completing less than 50-percent of his passes for 186 yards, but his completion percentage for the year is just under 60 and it isn’t like he has some of the tools around him that other rookie passers have benefited from. Whether or not Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas can hold up against this San Francisco defense will be crucial to Miami’s ability to move the ball on offense, while the eighth-ranked rushing defense will look to force Kaepernick to win this game.
NFL Betting Preview: San Francisco 49ers
Considering they have the second-ranked rushing attack in the NFL it isn’t as though the 49ers need a quarterback that can run, even though Kaepernick led the way against St. Louis with 84 rushing yards. Kaepernick did finish with 208 passing yards but no scores and he was sacked three times, and it’s interesting that Harbaugh has made such a drastic move after such a strong start for this team. The 49ers’ defense will continue to lead the way as it is somehow ranked in the top-five against both the run and pass, but as we saw last week this team needs its offense to score in order to win online sportsbook games.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
While this would seem like the perfect opponent to bring back Smith against and allow him to get back in to a rhythm before next week’s showdown against the New England Patriots, Harbaugh is sticking with Kaepernick. That may not hurt San Francisco this week against a relatively weaker Dolphins’ team, but it could come back to hurt them in the long run.
